Good job "Noble Q", the detailed information is invaluable, I am already writing down configurations and recommended aircraft for this difficult hunt. Here in Spain, we value coffee a lot and I could send you some good packages and donuts so you can continue working so well. First I must say that without these events in which I suffer when hundreds of sectors have to be liberated or the bombers have to burst the bank, I would not improve my level of barely more than a year. Thanks to that effort, my hated P61 is no longer so indestructible. and that makes me very happy. I no longer want to criticize, I prefer to fly and enjoy every turn and dodge. Of course, this MB.5 does not attract me at all. For those of us who have hangars full of tiers V, it is just a curiosity. I prefer the firepower of some heavy ones. None of us newbies could waste time with an SE100, or a Beaufigter, and higher up, the J7w1. Greetings to the rest of the pilots..

It's good to see you here again. I'm glad you aren't sending coffee and doughnuts, I sleep badly already and I'm overweight! :D I think Bomber Escort is my favourite special mode. I'm glad you've enjoyed it. There's another Bomber Escort mode coming in a couple of weeks. I think the MB.5 is serviceable if you know what you're doing. However, oddly enough, it feels like a new plane that has already suffered power creep.

Thank you for your informative videos! Many times I have tried to get Guardians or Flying Guardian Badges and I naturally thought A6M3! But I found myself doing this more easily, without concentrating, and focusing on something else.. in a Heavy Fighter. They can really smash things and defend pretty nicely. Ki-102 is very capable! When I need an achievement, and now.. I reach for an overpowered or specialized plane, or a strong premium. Gunner kills.. maybe SE100? I couldn’t do this step for the XP-55, which I believe was 5 in a single battle. I attempted it over & over in the SE100 but only got 4 twice🤷🏼 Thanks for your insight! I appreciate the advice for these types of steps in missions! o7 sir!

Killing Multi-roles, killing heavies or acquiring medals like Akamatsu / McGuire requires to /survive/. This is potentiall easier in faster plane, in which you can chose to commit to or evade an engagement. "Fast" means fast relative to the tier: So the Bf109B is very fast as well as the Mig-15. - And all of this depends on your enemies: Doing an Akamatsu in a Zero defending an airbase with repairs may be easy ... unless there is fast heavy doing zoom & boom. So I tend to go for jack-of-all-trades: LaGG-3, Airbonita, Airacobra for the Akamatsu. Side note: getting an airbase with repairs in the middle of the map is more likely in lower tiers (map: Snowy Shore, tier 3-6).

The P-61 is really good at this too, the turret points forward so you just need to bring your target down to 10% HP or so and let the turret finish it off. I've gotten 7+ turret kills in a game like this

I've become much more proficient at grinding these events recently so I'm hoping I'll get by relatively easily. I kind of prefer the clear grindy missions to the achievement ones, as during a event achievements are pretty hard to set up reliably. For the CP/sector capture/conqueror missions I get best results in something like the F84s. For ground specific CP / sections of targets - GAAs(Me 1099 B-2 is best). For ground damage - EF 131/ Tu-12 I'll try to be ready for the ACE mission by week 3 bomber escort. Should be easy there. Otherwise might be problematic during a event. P.S. I got stuck on the 5 HF in one battle mission in the previous event too. Took me 3 days, after being prevented(read ram killed) by and "ally", on the second attempt, just before finishing off the 5th HF. That was not a good experience.

Thank you for the recommendations, which I hope readers will take on board and try. I think for experienced, good players like you the worst thing about the grinds is, potentially, boredom. The compensation is not having to depend on luck for the achievement, unlike the heavy fighters or some of the medals. As for aces, at tier 10 fighters and heavies, at least on the EU server, are almost always defending during bomber escort and then you can almost print them, as you say.

It was rather easy event for me this time. Got the Ace on the first battle in a fighter during bomber escort. Overall grinding was relatively smooth. Took me about 20h in total. The Heart of the Griffon event did serve me as secondary purpose for the grind. I just rearranged my participation according to the tasks for the MB-5 missions. Grinding for two prizes at the same time feels a lot less grindy. Maybe WG should rethink their marathons and allow simultaneous mission completion within a section. P.S. The slowest mission to pass for me was the 70 ADA kills one. Took me 12 battles I think.

@@TheNobleQ That P-61 deserves a big nerf. Every match with a skilled P-61 specialist player gets boring, cause it sprays tons of lead around and kills everything around. Climbrate is a joke. First kill a ground attacker, litttle flip and boost up to 3000 meters to kill a bomber in seconds. When there are two specialists in a team, I go and grab a beer, until my plane is back. 😋

Few questions from a novice player, if anyone cares to help it would be lovely: 1. I got a create from Heath of the Griffon and got the missions for MB.5. The weird thing is that it says it needs to be completed within 28 days but when I tried to activate it says that I have 2 days to complete. Which is it? 2. Can you use the special modes to complete the missions for MB.5? Noble Q mentioned that no, you need regular conquest mode but in the missions description itself there is no such restriction (just planes tier IV-X). It would be much easier to do sof of the stages in bomber escort mode for sure.

  • @TheNobleQ

The operation order for the MB.5 is valid for two days at a time, but you can extend it using tokens all the way to the 17th December. I'm sorry if I misled you concerning completing MB.5 during special modes. You can, though occasionally some of the missions may be tricky to do.

First for a new player completing this order would be very hard. And I don't think it's worth buying the keys. The 28 days is the order activation time. The completion time is separate. You can extend the completion time 2 days at a time for 2 tokens. I'd recommend you extend it several days ahead if you're on it and also keep in mind that the "extend" function is disabled before the "activation" time runs out. I lost a nearly complete order due to that once. Apart from the "kill 70 air defense aircraft" mission all the others can be completed during all stages of the Griffon event. This mission would have to be completed Monday-Wednesday or during the second stage(which was normal mode). If you don't have planes tier 8 or above that can do good ground target and air target damage, you're in for a hell of a grind. Basically 4-5 times the effort, on some of the missions, then with a plane that is good fit. Some missions you can do efficiently at lower tiers. Keep in mind however that tiers 4 and 5 are disadvantaged by being disproportionately bottom tier.

@@nikoladd thanks for your input. A lot of great info in your post. One note though. Only the first extension costs 2 tokes. The second one was 5 tokens for me and I decided to skip it. It's a shame since it would be a nice souvenir of the 10th anniversary of the game. On the other hand maybe the event was aimed at veteran players only ...

4 crates and no operation order - is there a guaranteed drop like WOWS? I tried doing the missions but I keep getting match-making that has no valid targets... I like the plane but if I don't get the order not much I can do about it. But estimated 7 minutes per game? Bomber escourt is longer than standard mode - about 20 minutes each I believe? That means 4000 minutes for a good player - best case scenario. If you double it for new players then that's 8000 minutes. update: now 5 crates and no mission

  • @TheNobleQ

    @TheNobleQ

    8 ай бұрын

First, you've been unlucky not to get the order in the first five crates. I take it you have checked your missions to make sure it hasn't appeared there alongside 'Heart of the Griffon/Griffin'? If not, it does drop with a high probability, I'm sure it will come soon. Secondly, the calculation is based on normal conquest mode. You're right that the bomber escort games are longer, but in many cases that means you can make greater progress - though beware, there are some missions that can't be done in that mode.

Well, I started the grind, cause I received the plan in a box, while I was just there to grab my gold for every class. But I guess, I will just grab the rewards for single steps. Just take your sheet, add a column for the certificates, you may have to buy to skip some of these heavy load steps. I am not the worst player, but your number of matches seems to me calculated very conservative and with a lucky hand for matchmaking. I marked the painful spots in the ladder and I will end up between 100 and 120 certificates, as Akamatsu and some other stuff is a nighmare, if you need it. 5 heavies in one match? Maybe during an event match, but not in a regular match. I felt that pain in the last event, where I decided to cancel it. A newer player will surely add up to 600+ matches. And that thing is really not worth that grind. Sorry WG. That plane looks funny, but I have to work for my income and I will not sit in my desk for grinding hours over hours. 😉

That's a good point about having the certificates on the spreadsheet. I'll do that in future. Indicating the number of battles any player might have to fight cannot be exact, of course, but I hope the indicative numbers I've supplied, even if you think I'm optimistic, help people decide if they want to invest time, or money, or both, in getting the MB.5. I'd advise people to look at my review of the plane before making that decision. I don't think it's a strong one.

@@TheNobleQ First of all: Thank you for the detailed review and the guessing on hours. Maybe you want to add a KZread Short with the spreadsheet and the numbers 😉 This time, it is hard to guess the numbers of battles, because of the event, which helps a lot at some cases. If you guys go for the medals (Akamatsu and McGuire), keep following in mind: "Available in Standard Battle only." Guess, you are expected to rush through the other jobs and get them between the event-waves. A little help fo the decision: I will stay with my Spitfire IX with the two Hispano Mk V and two Brwoning M2 (F).

@@bikerpete5146 The McGuire is the next achievement I need and Bomber Escort mode has just ended. However, I think you could get it in the mode, just not easily. I know for certain you can get the Akamatsu, but again, it's not easy in Bomber Escort mode. One mission that definitely cannot be done is shooting down ADAs. Aces, on the other hand, are much easier in this mode. The MB.5 could have had interesting "high energy" features. Its paper statistics suggest that it has, but unfortunately they're only available in specific situations (diving). Otherwise, it's very similar to the Spitfires and doesn't bring much new to the game.

@@TheNobleQ I have one certificate out of the boxes and I will invest it for the 70 ADAS, because when you have all human players after these poor ADAS, you may have no luck in getting 70 together. Jepp - earned some awards in the mission levels, so they count as normal levels. Got some ACE awards for taking down the bombers, so it relatively good to earn in missions. Too bad, that this stuff just counts, when you have it on your tasklist. Would be relaxed, if you could randomly collect everything. 😉 Winning two matches in top three drives my crazy - cause I end up in such crappy matches, that the problem is the win.
