Now that I've got some XP-67 sorties in the books, I'll say that I like it very much. I took my most experienced pilot and retrained him into it so his experience isn't frozen. I don't have Elise Clark sadly. Equipment is also upgraded and that makes a huge difference (I went for agility). P-61s aren't the boogeyman they used to be if you spot them first. Attacks from underneath are quite effective and tail chases aren't as bad as I thought. Maybe the head-on hitbox for the XP-67 is smaller? Don't get me wrong, if a P-61 spots you first and goes to guns on it, it won't end pretty. But the XP-67 can turn with the P-61. So I feel this new plane has added some balance. Still, the other agile fighters can take an XP-67 out so there's that. I'm still staying away from full HP B-29s. 😂

You've identified the necessary condition for defeating the P-61 there; enter the engagement with the advantage. This applies if you have an agility or a high energy build. Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying the plane, you've worked hard for it!

Well, it's not just about the plane, but it's a plane that I believe needs an experienced pilot clear in his or her mind about what he wants to do with it. It's not the easiest of planes to play.

According to William Green's little books (that I adore), the XP-67 could be equipped with 6× 37mm guns. Plane had a tendency to dutch roll.

If WoWp was about realism, you'd be right. However, I think we all know it isn't, so we can't be surprised that the team has taken licence to configure this plane ahistorically. That said, the DPS on this fighter is by far the best for any tier 8 fighter, tier 6 guns or not!

What's up with Wg in that the Xp-67 has 700 DPS in Elite configuration but only 680 DPS in Specialized configuration? Is this a bait-n-switch by Wg or what?

I asked the WoWp team about this and mentioned it in several streams before and after Christmas, that is, this is not new information. It's not the only plane that exhibits this issue. For instance, so does the Ki-93. As this issue is well-known and has been so almost from the moment the plane was released, I don't believe it merits an updated video. The WoWp team has said the issue is being investigated.

I believe the WoWP team has addressed the issues of specialist aircraft losing damage output with the patch that's just gone through, 2.1.25.1. For example, prior to the patch the Moonbat in stock configuration without equipment, pilot and consumables had a rating of 680 DPS. In specialist configuration, similarly stripped of improvements, this became 632 DPS. This has been fixed and is the expected 680. I haven't checked the Ki-93, which I mentioned above, nor the XP-54, which I hadn't mentioned previously.

I was glad you touched on countering the P-61, which I see as problematic at best. I've had P-61s almost outturn my Attacker, which I can't quite figure. The P-61 guns make a head-on run certain suicide. And in a turn, that turret is overpoweringly accurate. So really the only tactic I see is a surprise hit from the side or from underneath while it's engaged with another aircraft. With the low hp given to the XP-67, it won't survive 1v1 with a P-61. Thoughts?

If you build the Attacker for speed, or even mostly for speed, and you encounter a P-61 fully kitted out for turning and with Millie Elliot as the pilot, then yes, it will outturn you. Even if you build the Attacker for manoeuvrability you're going to need to know how to get the most from your turns in order to get the better of the P-61. Even then, you'll spend so long shooting it you may lose your plane to its friends, and generally P-61s are in furballs. You might - emphasise might - with LGB on the Moonbat be able to outshoot a P-61, but I think the disparity in HP pools will still work in the P-61's favour. I'll need to play the plane more to understand what's best for it, given my play style, but at the moment I think "hit and run" tactics may be the way to go, hoping that the P-61 is so busy it won't opt to chase you down.

Are you going to make a full review before the 17th when this Christmas candy cane trail event is over? I ask because I finally passed 300 and have to decide if the Moonbat is worth $60 USD for 300 certificates? I have encountered a few XP-67s while flying my spec'ed out XP-61 and each time the Moonbat was an easy shootdown. It seems to me to be a very fragile plane with very weak defenses. Maybe it's because they weren't specialized yet that resulted in my killing them easily. Other players that have it like it as it can outturn the XP-61 and shoot it down. With conflicting info on the XP-67 I was hoping to see a full review before this Christmas event is over. Thank you.

I think most of the information about the Moonbat I can provide is in the the video you have watched. I'm not sure if you know, but after acquiring the Moonbat on my regular account I took a break from WoWp, planned to last until the event is over, so I haven't played the plane again and have no new insights to offer. That said, I do not think this is a strong plane. It's rather like a Sabre, the tier 10 American fighter, in reverse; that is, it has great guns, but is ordinary in all other respects. It can be built to outturn most P-61s, but given you will usually encounter turn fighting P-61s in furballs, it's likely the Moonbat will be shot down long before it can kill a full health Black Widow. Nor is it particularly quick. My current thinking is to build it for speed and play it like a P-51, positioning the plane carefully, looking for isolated targets and declining engagements that would take me into numerous enemies. If you are to spend $60 consider the remaining rewards on the candy trail. If they are attractive, perhaps that will decide you one way, if not, the other. I hope that helps!

Thanks. Very few on the NA server this morning (Jan. 17) so most players are burned out from the Christmas grind and taking a break. I was able to get to 450 candy canes last night and only needed to drop $47 USD to get 180 certificates to get the Moonbat so I have a few left for the next plane grind when I want to skip a super grind part.

It's an interesting plane. I'm writing some hours after the video and I'm wondering if I didn't make enough of the firepower, but, truth to tell, I'll only be able to tell that once I've flown it for a few hours.

It's a bit of an oddity, a plane of extremes. The firepower is immense for a fighter, but it looks like a bit of a slug when it comes to being a good "high energy" airframe. Overnight I began to see that it may prove to be something of a P-61 killer if people choose to build it to be manoeuvrable. We'll see.

That's a good question. The battle you've seen is with the Moonbat on a press account, where that livery was available, and I flew it like that before I was informed by a member of my community that it wasn't available on regular accounts. I guess it's going to appear on sale some time in the future.

I'm not going in for this plane... appears to be quite mediocre, at best. I have too many planes... Thanks for the review. I wish you'd take up the FW-190 - Spitfire controversary. The FW is very under powered in this game, underrated to be sure. Thanks, ....HOORNBLOWER.

My view of WoWp is that it isn't a historically based game, despite the effort put into the models for the iconic planes, so I consider I fly this pixel plane that can do this and another pixel plane that can do something different, without worrying if that matches what the real aircraft could do. The Fw 190s could do with a little love though. As for the XP-67, don't forget its firepower. I was thinking overnight the manoeuvrability build has the potential to turn it into a P-61 killer.

That's a good point. However, it's worth knowing that the manoeuvrability build is not going to be able to counter P-61s as effectively without the use of Elise Clark. What I should have done is said what the manoeuvrability rating is without her. It's around 71, which means some P-61s will be able to turn against this build on an equal footing.

@@TheNobleQ Sadly, I think, that in the P-61 vs XP-67 scenario (maneuverability build with/without Elise) this plane gets screwed by one hit to the tail/wing - since you lose maneuverability and can have either have pneumatic control assist or repair - my guess is the win chance is 50/50 in this case. To me it seems, this plane gives up quite a lot of speed and maneuverability for the better guns, compared to its closest peers - Vampire and P-80. I guess time will tell.

Exactly, only experience in the air will show which way each of us wishes to go. If it helps, the airframe is rather like that of the Re. 2005. You may think the build on that plane a guide to building this one.

Aaaaand I am out ... I started the event and NO ... I will just do some spare time matches, but that's it. Reasons: 1.) Randomly crashing client at map-start (hard to get 8.000 points for a candy, when you missed the 1st half - and none of their tips helped) 2.) Unbalanced matches again (very often, I see matches with 1 vs 5 specialists. Not funny for the winner, not funny for the loser. No time to earn 8.000 again. Sometimes, they end 800:0) 3.) Quitters at candy-limit (Very often, people quit, when they reach their 8.000 for the candy to start a new match and to safe time.) 4.) Ragequitters, because of #1. When the client crashes often enough, I understand, when even the most patient people just keep it closed and play something else instead. 5.) Unbeatable limit of 600. If you are not living in your moms basement without a job and social contacts, you may roughly make it to 300 candy-certificates. That means for gettings the plane after all the time, that you already invested, you will have to pay 50 Euros to get that thing. My conclusion: As I already own the three smaller planes, I will just randomly collect some more certificates/candies to get more of these daily tokens and earn some gold and hangar spaces. Some of the checkpoints are nice, but mostly, it is not too thrilling. The "experimental" supplies would be nice, because they are rare, but I will not get them (except polished skin and turret armor protection). I guess, I reached a point, where I am more or less fed up with World of Warplanes and I think, it is time for another game. The game is not bad, but all the crashes and their events are just crappy.

Well, I completed the grind yesterday and I'm wondering if I will ever want to do another of these, having been through at least three of them before. You're unlucky with the game crashes, but I think you're making a sensible decision. It's only a video game, not a full time occupation. It would be nice to think 2024 will bring good things in the game, but given the size of the team and that at least some of its members are in a theatre of war, it seems a bit unlikely.

основной набор конфет идет от ежедневных боевых задачь . конфета за 8000 тоже важно но второстепенная .задача на 10 жетонов дает 9 конфет. задача на 4 жетона дает 6 конфет(эту задачу по выполнению следует обновить она легкая и выполняется 2жды за день . ) задача на 1 жетон дает 3 конфеты . итого на ЕБЗ получаеш в идеале 24 конфеты в день +по конфете за каждый раз когда набрал 8000 опыта. пишу это потому что такой марофон повторяется уже 3 года вероятно повторится и на следующий новый год если мы не уничтожим друг друга в ядерном конфликте
