Thank you for timely updates on the new aircraft being introduced. WOWPs could introduce others with minimal efforts. The Ki-61 can be converted to the Ki-100 immediately comes to mind and there are others.

I happen to know that with this update, the WoWp team has got itself "a plane in hand" for the reward marathon. Of course, I don't know what that is, but since they've given themselves that wiggle room, I'm hoping they'll stun us with some imaginative choices.

At the 25:35 mark you did wait for the bomber to turn around. It is worth noting to other players that Wg made a code change earlier this year that increases the distance a bomber flies out of a sector before turning around. You really see this when there is an inbound bomber and you capture the sector. The bomber will fly way out almost into an adjacent sector before turning around and coming back. Presumably it is waiting for the sector to unlock before making its bombing run. Whatever the reason the rng factor on how far out of a sector a bomber flies before turning around and coming back has had the max distance increased.

Again, interesting points. Sometimes I wait for a bomber to turn round when I know I have no chance of destroying it before it comes back into the sector, so I conserve my boost. As for the change to the distance a bomber flies out of a sector, again I haven't seen any documentation on that change and I haven't noticed it. Have you seen this change in behaviour documented and, if so, could you provide a link to it?

Thank you for the video Noble Q! Good comment about the Effimov medal, certainly agreed! I’ve never gotten one and I’ve been at this game for about 1.5 years. Only recently did I accidentally achieve a Doolittle medal.. I’m flying a B-32 now which has enough ordinance to do that at times. I wondered what would be your plane of choice to achieve an Effimov? To go along with that, what would be your plane of choice for the following difficult achievements: Doolittle, Lang, Golubev, Marseille? o7

The Efimov is a puzzle on the EU server. I'm considering using the LBSh, because the chances of high tier GAAs getting Efimovs in bomber-spammed games is, in my opinion, low - though possibly the heavies will be so busy with bombers maybe a GAA will sneak it! I'd choose high tier GAAs on the NA server. Doolittle - RB-17 / EF 131 / Su-10, Lang, the same, Golubev, BV P.210, Marseille, your favourite agile light fighter or powerful heavy.

I don't play bombers much (like you) and only have 2 Efimov medals to my credit. It only took me a few battles to get a tier 10 five sector map with 2 mines where I was able to go to the far mine in my Ef 131, bomb the center target and 2 secondary targets, then fly to the other mine (avoiding the center airbase), and do the same. Then I had time to go to a nearby garrison and bomb out more targets to end with 0 deaths and 560 capture points with the win. It wasn't as hard to do as I thought it might have been with the Ef 131. Anything less than a tier 10 bomber and it would be very difficult to get an Efimov. EDIT: Oh yes, I'm on the NA server so that probably helped me get it fairly quickly.

I suspect you mean a Doolittle medal if you used an EF 131! The Efimov medal, for newer players, is obtained using ground attack aircraft. I settled on using the tier 10 Me P.1102 B and good fortune with the composition of the teams to secure an Efimov in the Josephine marathon. That said, high tier bombers change the strategy of the game, especially on maps with two mining plants. On such a map, if there are high tier bombers, defence of a mining plant (which will likely eventually fail, the point being to delay its capture by the bomber or bombers) becomes much more important than, for instance, capturing and keeping even a military base. Unfortunately, many of the other tier 9 and 10 aircraft are not suitable for this purpose.

Near the end of the 2nd battle after you shot down the J7. I was surprised that you didn't use your Engine Cooling to boost to the next plane you targeted. In the big picture you were way ahead to win it but you took longer to engage the next target than you needed to (just an armchair qb thought). The 25 part plane missions are a nice change from normal playing even if the reward aircraft is less than stellar. Until you recently got your press account to give us an advanced look and feel of a plane there was little to no way to know if the mission reward aircraft would be op, great, average, or below average in terms of the overall impact in winning battles. I was busy a couple summers ago and made the mistake of not finishing the Xp-54 and B-29C missions much to my regret as they are the top OP aircraft in this game. Since then I have completed every one to avoid another mistake like that. I expected the P-51D to be the same as the tech tree version with the bonus coming from the paint job. However I am very disappointed that only 1 of the 2 Elise Clark special pilot skills is usable in the Josephine. That is very disappointing to find out.

I appreciate you taking the time to make these comments; always thoughtful stuff from you! I agree that a major benefit of WoWp's press account is allowing me to display the characteristics of a new plane so that people can make an informed decision about how much effort to expend in getting it. Maybe we should campaign for a special "Joe Peterburs" pilot! That would have made a very nice tribute.

At the 14:15 mark you attacked a bomber at the mine. Yes your side did capture the mine but I am quite surprised that you continued to chase the bomber even after it left the sector and you destroyed it outside the sector. I always break off the attack and wait for the bomber to turn around and come back into the sector before destroying it. I think that was a tactical mistake as you incurred more damage by chasing it out of the sector. Also (as you know but I am stating for others) bullet damage is greater when coming head on to a plane as the kinetic energy of the bullets is greater (bullet speed + airplane speed + speed of the oncoming plane) on a head on attack so breaking off and circling around to be in a position to attack the bomber head on just as it re-enters the sector is a better strategy imo.

Interesting points there. I don't let bombers come back to strategic sectors because, particularly in a plane with a high time to kill like a P-51, often the bomber will drop bombs and then be destroyed before those have hit the ground. That means they will make progress on flipping the sector, so I consider it's better to dispatch them before they can do that. The second point about increased bullet damage when going head on; I've not seen that documented anywhere and, whilst you may be right, I'm not sure you are.

Would it be reasonable to introduce a tier XI? Could this attract veteran players and excite us new ones? On the other hand, who wouldn't like a crazy mode (like in the final countdown movie, in which a zero can attack an F14 Tomcat), in which there could be in a way 3 or 4 tiers of difference between airplanes. thanks for your work

I think so, but I think it’s unlikely since major development work on the game ceased some years ago.

It's incredible, sometimes the short-lived phantom enemy fire appears out of nowhere, as you mentioned, other times after you shoot down, when you restart the flight you are a completely different plane and you have no control over its maneuver, but if you shoot, you hear the machine guns or you can go to sniper view. Tremendous failures.

Certainly, it would be good if those were fixed. The latter is the more serious of the two, in my opinion, the former being irritating but not usually critical.

Unless it is a prize in one of the many loot crates WoWp has, I don't believe it's available. My guess would be it will be offered for sale in the shop one day. That mission marathon is a pain and I stopped it. 5 heavy fighters - and usually I face only 1 specialist in the enemy team 😉 Don't think it is worth the grind ....

@@TheNobleQ As I don't have Elise on my virtual payroll, it is more interesting to buy the P51K from China to have a Tier VII Mustang. The skin is a nice feature, but not worth to give an arm and a leg for it. The 6.000 can be earned by collecting the black crates. btw: too bad, that they show no interest in fixing the matchmaking. There are specialist teams way too often. 100 to 800 matches are not funny - neither for the losers, nor for the winners.

@@bikerpete5146 I agree it's a lot of work to get a standard P-51D with a slightly unusual 5 bonus characteristic camouflage. Not everyone will want to, or have, the time to do it. The P-51K is a solid choice, almost identical to the P-51D, but limited in that it can't be assigned to other nations in the way the Europe/International premiums can. As for the match making, I can tell you the WoWp team would like to address it. However, I think that's an aspiration, rather than a plan.

Would love to see a video on the Yak-3rd premium. Interesting set up. Only 1x23mm hub cannon. Rocket boost which might be one of the fastest accelerations in the tier

​@@TheNobleQ I don't know if you can use it (never tried that), but I can send you a replay file of a nice Yak3RD match. I took it out of the darkest spot of my hangar today, cause I had my problems with the setup of that plane, but as a speed-build, it works fine. But yes - the lack of firepower is still a thing. You follow a heavy or a multirole and tickle it to death. The positive thing is the nice sound of the rocket-boost. Just play it like a german heavy fighter. Use your speed, get on the six of a distracted guy and blow him up.

@@molinafranco2103 I agree, the game could do with being freshened up in some way. Of course, we ought to be careful what we wish for in case it goes the same way as Tanks or Ships!

We all know that Wg doesn't give a rat's ass about "fair and balanced" battles and doubles and triples down on the rng. So much so that in many battles it comes down to the team with the better bots wins. So flip the virtual coin and say "heads = my team gets the better bots and wins" or "tails = my team has the poor bots and loses". Wg has no regard for player skills or the time it took to become a good veteran player and only cares for "extreme rng" which is a real shame (Wg does this in all their games). Hopefully Wg is working on recoding the MM for better human player team assignment balance if not bot balance but then again it may be just a rumor. Losing 3 of 4 battles does not give us confidence in wanting to fly the P-51D Josephine.

We'll have to see if the WoWp team's aspiration to change the match making is realised before we can judge what they're trying to achieve with battle outcomes. Given the team is small and under fire in Ukraine, I wouldn't expect any changes be made soon or even in the medium term. I consider the game has moved away from favouring skilful players and, whilst I realise this may be seen by casual players as a good thing, I don't. The Josephine, I think, is best regarded as a welcome historical artefact in the game that doesn't affect game balance. I wish all the reward planes were like that, rather than the P-61, the XP-54 or the B-29C, which signficantly altered, and in the case of the P-61, continues to alter the balance of the game.

Yeah, Im not going to waste my time for a copy-paste plane with paint lol.
