u/Gilthoniel_Elbereth on Reddit let me know that the quest for involing Surena Caledon was to learn to summon the Voidwalker, not succubus! Thanks for the correction! :)

@@Klipix1437 Again, I am pretty unfamiliar with the PvP, but doesn't Arathi take place before cataclysm? OR it could be named after the same real-world pet like I speculated here in the video?
I don't know if it counts as an Easter Egg, but the structures you find in Elwynn, like the houses where the bandits live, the Cat Lady, the Orchard, are modelled after the tiny farms you built in WarCraft 3 to provide you with additional population cap. It now has a blue, tiled roof (I assume this was added to reinforce the Alliance identity , compared to the red-roofed Horde buildings), instead of the old straw roof, but the white walls, the attic window over the main door, and even the chimney with one slightly shorter funnel are still there.
@ryoga5000
Жыл бұрын
The westfall_farm.wmo asset uses the straw roof.
It WAS possible to reach the Mountain Pass in vanilla from the Burning Steppes. You had to mount up and jump onto a small spot where the cliff was just barely short enough to get on top of. The fish school gave peacebloom, which makes me believe it was created as a prototype.
I just realized that even though I've only ever played horde, i really appreciate the design of alliance stuff. Especially human. Oh and a random thing. Warcraft humans somehow feels like imperial UK to me.
Thanks you so much for these beautiful, niche, and in depth looks at wow zones, I wish you could do them all!
I remember the quest in Wotlk, you had to visit very powerful npcs (including Alexstrasa) which all granted their life-giving powers to heal Bridenbrecker, but still he was beyond any attemps of cure, and perished anyway, and Lord Tyrion Fordring concludes by saying that life is this way, and not everyone gets to be brought back (given that wow has resurrection for all player heroes, making us more powerful than the npcs). For me it was a very memorable and touching quest, and now I know why.
Loved this video. It's inspired me to return to WoW and take my time leveling, look out for all the details that you miss zoomed all the way out and beelining from quest to quest. In Eastvale Logging Camp you pointed out a doghouse without a dog. Toward the center of the camp near the gryphons you can often see a little girl running around with a tiny pug, who may be the doghouse's tenant. Can't wait to watch more of your stuff!
Another cool one - The Stonefield Farm and the Maclure Farm in southwestern Elwynn Forest is a reference to The Hatfield and the McCoy fued of the late 1800's. Bascially, two families, The Hatfields (Stonefields) and the McCoys (Maclures) are in a bitter feud, which is actually also said to be the case by one of the Stonefield family members during a quest!

Great video! I will be sure to check out the rest of them. I am not sure if it was mentioned yet. But the mirror lake drain at 16:00 was part of a BfA Horde quest. The imprisoned Saurfang escaped Stormwind City through the sewer and that drain. Together with a dark ranger the player character then tracks Saurfang down.
@groovesy

Came to add this too! It is a sewer exit. A bit gross, but doesn’t look too bad. Saurfang escapes Stormwind through this near the end of BFA to escape detection by SI:7 and Sylvanas loyalists. With a dark ranger helping us track him we chase the trail all the way into the redridge mountains
@Wyr3d

Was about to add the same lol The mirror lake chest was part of a questline in BFA - i hasn't really been there that long. I dunno if the questline is still active, but it was Horde side so these Alliance scum prolly have no idea XD

Best part about Goldshire in present WoW is that with War Mode on it's empty, even on Moonguard Which makes it a great hangout spot for rp'ers who dont want to deal with the usual crowd of that inn xD
30:17 At the mountain pass... During Vanilla my flight path dismounted and I got dropped there. There was a fishing pool there that you could fish Peacebloom from. The water surface was "unfinished" so you could see where it suddenly stopped. There was a really deep ravine randomly behind the water too and if you fell there you would need to HS or die to get out. I think I might have screenshots from it.

You actually could enter from that location via slowfall with a bit of out of bounds travelling.
I wish I'd discovered your channel earlier, though I've stop playing halfway through WoD, this content hits right in the feels. The years I've spent in Azeroth will forever be imbedded in my memories. Elwynn was not just for the Vanilla and Classic players. For many years, every so often I'd make a new alt just to play lvl 0 to 40 content. Elwynn, Westfall, Redridge, Duskwood and STV, occasionally venture to Wetlands and Theramore Isle. And always running a leathal Rogue. Then delete and do it again. Outstanding Post 🤩. For the Alliance.
So I've only just discovered your channel, and I've watched a couple so far, man these are so good... I wanted to add some information on the house kind of northeast of Elwynn, which you mentioned near the end of the video, as it pertains to Vanilla. Me and some friends used to go around the world prior to Cataclysm and break into every single incomplete area we could. We did this by my playing a Deathknight, and my friend playing a Priest. What we'd do is try and use various methods of wall climbing, and carefully timed jumps, slow falls, and speed increases to get into any and all incomplete areas we could possibly find. This location in Elwynn being one of them. I don't remember exactly how we scaled this location, as it was clearly not meant for players to get up there, but I'd noted that there is a fishing pool right there in the water when I'd fly by, and assumed surely there must be a way. The DK and Priest combo worked best for us because when we couldn't go any further, we'd exploit a bug with the way that Fear worked at the time. When we got as far as we could go, we'd start a duel with each other, my friend would fear me, which would almost always have me running up any and all surfaces away from him. Once Fear stopped, providing I didn't move, I could deathgrip my friend up to my position and we'd repeat this process as necessary. Once we got up there, we went down into that little house near the pool of water, and naturally I had to fish the location to see what came up. When cast in the fishing spot (the water circle that shows up in some of the footage you showed), you could and would ONLY fish up Peacebloom, one of the lowest level herbs in the game. There were no fish that could be caught there though, and this was the only fishing pool in the game to have such a loot table. I couldn't possibly begin to tell you why Peacebloom is what you fished up there, or why there was a fishing pool there in the first place. On a related note, this property of Fear that caused it to make players run up (often) unscallable walls or mountain sides has been fixed/removed, I'm pretty sure it's possible to get there still on Classic. However, I have not returned there since the relaunch of Classic, so I can't 100% confirm if it's still accessible, and perhaps most importantly, whether the fishing pool is still there, as Blizzard has been known to fix unintended glitches and bugs from the various Classic eras. But man you're tempting me to go find out... Anyways, just thought you might be interested to know that those last locations have been accessed before, and it was arguably one of my fondest memories of Vanilla through Wrath.
You deserve more viewers this is good unique content. A real refreshment from what we usually get.
I honestly thought this was a Hayven Games video for a hot minute. The video quality is -astounding- and I'm only 43 seconds in. Can you do a video on Azuremyst Isle or Bloodmyst Isle? That'd make the Draenei in me super excited.

Thank you!! I appreciate it 😊 I am going to hold off a minute and see if they announce TBC Classic before jumping into those, but I absolutely will be taking a look at those areas! Eversong Forest and Hellfire Peninsula too
The lore behind the dude who battle cancer adds so much more depth to the chain of you attempting to rescue that dude in Northrend. Especially with its conclusion (no spoilers. Go do the quest if you haven't before. It's really fun and well told). This is why I love these kinds of "Tours" to the making of the games I love. You discover a few, more in-depth, human elements to the game's content. Even though these games are essentially "Toys" for Consumers to enjoy, they are constructed by real people and Artists, who love to stamp little elements of their own real life experiences. I love that.
Fun fact for the Mountain Pass. Back before Cataclysm, post Wrath, I "accidentally" got there on my ground mount. I wasn't really even trying but I managed to wall jump out of The Burning Steppe and into the mountain pass between that and Elwynn Forest. I made it to a random pool with water that just stopped half way through. The map also said I was far off the coast of Westfall (I even entered Westfall General Chat and my map auto-opened to Westfall). It was one of my more proud exploration moments.
These videos deserve so so so so so many more views what in the world. Amazing work. PLEASE keep making these videos. you deserve to blow up for your hard work of running around WoW zoomed in and looking for 2 pixel small skulls in the grass. I couldn't imagine

Thank you so much! The channel is still new, and I am super happy with how it's going. Don't worry, these videos are going to be a regular thing. Trying for at least 1 a month, 2 ideally, alongside the other content I make. AND I want to do Easter Egg videos for other, similar games! And I must confess, though I do research all of these, I am don't discover *all* of the secrets myself. Those skulls would have gone under my radar if they had not been pointed out to me by other articles I found online! So, credit to the other WoW Nerds out there lmao
Here I am in 2022 still playing WoW, which probably saved my life, or certainly my sanity over some rough years, and I am LOVING these videos. Thank you for these...!!
I know this video is old, but thought I would point out that Underfoot is a cat that spawned at the blacksmith in Arathi Basin when captured by the horde. I use to chase it around on my rogue a lot waiting for people to attack it.
You could actually get up into that mountain pass even after cataclysm. Not sure if you can still get there on foot, but there was some spots on the terrain that you were able to run up just outside the stormwind castle. Only found out because of some Rpers who were druid guilds roleplaying cats from the Warrior series of Errin Hunt. They showed me a lot of places you'd normally never think to reach by foot actually quite possible. Jumping from the windows in the courtyard in the left wing of the keep, and making your way to shore, you could run up there; zig-zagging up the cliffside. You'd know you got to the right place as you'd find a small clearing with a few sparse trees with a small path leading up to the home of Tyler and his robotic sheep. Jumping down into the water below would gain you access to the river and (not too sure what's up there now) a small dock area with a empty cottage. Only way down from the area was to follow the river back the way you came and go down the waterfall into the zone below. Another place was in Dun Morogh, that large clearing to the far, far west of the map past gnomergan. It was a bit of a run and you had to go up and over several mountains, home to (back then, not sure now) home to only a few wandering goats. You'd reach it from the poison fields where that trogg killing quest was. Inside was fairly empty except for a poor dwarf who had been shooed up a tree by an angered bear.

There were a few others, that were technecally fly over spots, one in the Stonetalon Mountains, if i remember right. I'd have to see if they were still accessable by foot. Note, that all of these you didn't need any fancy tools such as a demon hunter's long jump, mage teleport. Just time, knowledge of the path, and effort.
So glad I found this channel! This is such a great way to revisit the lore of each zone.
Haven't dived before into the comments yet, but one of my favorite hunter pets is here, Bushtail! He's just east of the murloc encampment between the river to Duskwood and below the embankment near the tower on the road. There are lots of wolves around him, but he's the only blue fox.
This kind of videos are the ones who makes me enjoy the game more than I can ever do.
Terrapis was my first rare Hunter pet. Finding it and training it started me on the path of pet collecting hunter pets, a path I am still walking 8 years later.

I'm super happy I stumbled upon this series! I used to LOVE exploring WoW back in the Classic/Vanilla days, and this brings back so many memories! Regardless, awesome video, I highly look forward to the rest of the series.
The Crazy Cat lady had an Escort quest in the early days, where you protected her from the bandits and stuff. Seems like the kept in the bandits chatter as they are tied to the NPCs and not the quest.

31:00 You could actually get up there by bugging up the hills. In early versions of Vanilla, you could get up steep hills by walking in a specific way. That's how we got up on the walls of Stormwind and other inaccessible places, like the Ironforge Airfield. I remember that on Silvester 2005 my friends and I got up the walls of Stormwind to watch the fireworks, when a GM teleported next to us and asked us to leave. Good old times.
19:42 Nah, it's probably from when The Alliance of Lordaeron reclaimed the forest and the ruins of the original Stormwind City, doesn't make any sense for it to have been there while the Old Horde was in control. Also the First War Orcish Catapults (I have to specify because the humans also had catapults in the First War, but these were replaced by ballistae made in collaboration with the High Elves in the Second War) had a different design, with a giant skull in front instead of spikes. The modern horde formed in the Third War also adopted the Second War design in WoW for some reason (though the ones they used in the Third War also have a slightly different design with a banner and two tusks in front, which may have been based on the use of tusks on the Warthog jeeps in Halo: Combat Evolved). They would also make a variation of the Second War design later on in WoW.
Great video covering what will always be one of my favorite zones in the game!

I’ve been wanting a series like this for Final Fantasy XIV for like a decade now. We used to have something kinda similar a long time ago but no one has really taken his place since he stopped.
These videos are very enjoyable. Well written, and yes the soothing voice helps, lol. I'm also glad you have some common sense and don't go into conspiracy theories too fast, by being aware that some assets are just present because the world builders thought it looked pretty/didn't think too much of it. Also iirc : The drain at the bottom of the waterfall was added for the Saurfang quest, the one in which you have to track him down with a dark ranger
This video is pure gold. Thank you!
Hope you continue to make other videos like these, I love them
The little camp area at the top of the waterfalls was reachable via wall climbing back in the day. The fish pool there gave Peacebloom, for some reason.

the clara charles thing could honestly be like. considering that you are close to clara enough to see the dialogue, it could’ve been that the ambushers were supposed to be talking to the player & clara is meant to be like. working for the ambushers, luring people to talk to her only to then get attacked? idk that was the first thing that came to mind
Fun fact about exploding sheep; In Warcraft 1, if you tapped the sheep enough times, they'd explode. It was a secret for the longest time, and people were dumbfounded when they found out. I wonder if Tekton the mechanical sheep is a reference to that. You also have an homage to the exploding sheep from warcraft in the Worms franchise.
That was great! I'm looking forward to another zone!

I know Blizz put epic amounts of time into Elwynn because it was the human starting zone, but I don't think they had a chance to be that creative with the other ones. Maybe I'm wrong. I just heard somewhere that after they completed Elwynn Forest, they realized they weren't going to be able to put so much time into zones if they were to release the game on time, so they later skimped on small details. They were right -- they didn't finish Silithus or Azshara by their release date. I think they go into more detail in the World of Warcraft Diary.
Your passion and euphoria for some of the details is really awesome! Including your reaction to spiders^^

Thank you!! Hey man, Spiders are no joke, they can do their thing, just no where near me please
I have played Warcraft since it came out. I've come and gone and always went back to play it. I literally just found your channel, these videos and I'm drawn back to playing it again. Why? The inn music from Goldshire. I'll be watching the rest of your SECRETS videos I'm certain.
31:00 you could actually get to the waterfall area above Elwynn Forest. It is still my favorite hidden spot to chill in classic. No other players
Great video, very interesting, makes me wanna go back and checkout a few places

Hey, thank you so much!! Gilneas is on the list, for sure - its aesthetically one of my favorites. Will just give you a heads up, it might be a minute though. Tirisfal and some Outland zones are up next because Burning Crusade Classic is on the horizon
I really enjoy your wow storytelling videos! :)
Please make a “Here, on your map” t-shirt! I would buy it lol
Such a good video! Thank you
