I dunno if I give kudos to people who stuck around that long, or just point and laugh. I played from vanilla to Cata, and now it hits me in the age to see classic is at Cata. All the issues WoW would suffer after Cata were very obvious even then. So in the decade+ to follow, it seemed pretty obvious that WoW was sliding. PUG queues, P2W content, worsening story, increasingly toxic fanbase, etc. All of that was very apparent back around 2010.

If someone come across this and has never played WoW before, Carbot takes the experience and makes it into a format that WoW players find so nostalgic that if a person who has never played it before, watches this video, they will say to them selves "HEY, ITS JUST LIKE THE VIDEO I WATCHED FROM CARBOT!" I really enjoy seeing how your animation has evolved, the changes from your early stuff and modern has transitions so eloquently.

Yeah I only just started playing wow but it’s insane how you first pay for subscription, than you gotta pay for expansions and simply to use them you must have subscription. That and the wow token created a pay to win and you can also pay for levels and there’s skins and mounts locked behind money.

World pvp could suck if you were just trying to do your thing, but massive spontaneous fights, invading other capitals, kiting bosses to other zones to watch them wreck everything...just doesn't happen anymore. Just rush rush rush to the endgame, grind the latest mechanic that will disappear as soon as the next expansion rolls around, then rush rush rush again.

It was griefing on a mass scale, making the lives of all the low-level characters that were in the way miserable. The only form of PvP that was fun for everyone was the battlegrounds like Warsong Gulch.

@@pickledblowfish6178 I have no vested interested in its success or failings. Yet if you put irrational hate aside for a game, its company, or player base. You will see there are cult followings that simply never leave a game. Games like runeScape continue to bring in relatively decent number of players for a game you'd think people would be completely burnt out on in this day and age. While there isn't a perfect system in place to measure active players, the ones I've seen used show WoW still averages above the rest of the other mmos. It also is a low point before a new expansion, so whether they quit in a couple months or not, you'll see a rush of attention/activity as soon as this latest expansion comes out. This pattern has gone on for over a decade. The core player base is content with sticking around in spite of any drama that has affected Blizzard. TLDR: The low point of active players of WoW as this video teased, ended up just being an anomaly to the other wise high consistency of its player base to stick around. Whether we think its justified or not isn't my point. The fact is it remains relevant amongst its other MMO peers.

Fairly sure that cartoon was made during the big controversy at Blizzard. Not sure how long the masses unsubbed for. The reality is you don't have a community invest over a decade into a game and not come back to it like an addict. In short, as far as profiting enough to continue its existence, WoW will never actually die. Look at another ancient relic of the past, Runescape. WoW is more likely to end up like that, with a niche community that never truly leaves.

I mean he stayed there for how long? Few weeks? FF14 made a giant add campaign, because after the first expansion they started to milk the game and cut it down more and more instead of improvong it as it was heavily needed. When even us old players who had stayed with them since start coulnd't take it anymore, they hired WoW social media trolls to abuse thoe ridiculous accusation against Blizzard and push their game instead to replace all those who left with new guys they could sell all the lies to - and all their cash shop items (including the stuff from former events they love to put in there, you know, instead of you being able to get it next year). Square is so greedy, they never cared to get the amount of servers needed for the game, especially the housing system, what they instead abuse to justify deleting your house and all your 'worked' for over the years if you don't keep paying the sub. FF14 got around 10% the servers of WoW.

@@grumdiddlydoo3559 It's actually very easy to leave WoW, since they don't threaten you to lose anything. FF14 as soon as you unsub, you will quickly lose your house and a month later also everything inside it, what can easily stand for hundreds of hours played.

This reminded me just how much of a great game it was. It wasn't perfect, but it was fun. They've just totally ruined it. It's not just speed runs and daily chores. There's no strategy or caution or lore or fun.
