Great review!! I was negatively surprised with the new starter set, honestly. Here's my own summary: It's a great starter set. I gave the previous one an 8.5/10, and for a new player I'd give this one the same rating. However, the whole idea of a new starter set should have been to improve and innovate, not just copy-paste the previous iteration. From the perspective of a WoT:MG starter set v2.0, my honest opinion is that it flopped. 4/10. Below is why. Pros: ++++++ Tanks. Amazing tanks. New Tanks. Maus - nuff said. + Multi-language packaging, you can use the extra sets of different language upgrade cards to have copies for your fleet. As long as you have the language you speak card for reference. + You can now fully reach into the trays for vehicle and upgrade cards. No more fiddling, bending, poking! Cons: - The clear plastic tray in the previous starter set had trays all around the place for tokens, cards, even vehicles. They don't sell the garage in Serbia where I live, so I use the old starter sets trays for storing vehicles even! The new one however... Well, the clear tray that holds the core vehicles has a huge area that's unusable. A waste of space. You can fit the tanks that come with the set and nothing else really. - The card trays in the old set, when placing cards sideways, could fit up to ~100 cards per tray, and you could easily pull them out. In the new one, you can't put them sideways (they're a) too shallow, b) the clear tank tray is in the way), and they only fit about ~40-50 cards. So you need a lot more trays. Though I am getting a second starter set soon, and these black trays can stack inside the box so I think I'll be golden with two copies. - They had the perfect opportunity to design a new way to store terrain tokens (houses, trees, walls) once you punch them out, but they didn't. You still gotta box 'em up on the bottom and they roll around the place. - Adding a second movement/measurement arrow would've been a nice addition too. - Damage markers. Even though I like that now finally players who get the starter set only can actually use the 5 damage marker (as all of them can take 5 hits and survive), there is still no 4 damage marker. 1-2-3-5. Why? - The upgrade cards are the exact same which came in the previous starter set. I was very negatively surprised by this. The update to World of Tanks that changed equipment should have reflected here, as it did in the tank expansion packs. Why is a toolbox still a thing? Not only that, but where is my modified configuration? The improved hardening? Turbo, improved aiming unit? Why didn't they go the extra mile and introduce world of tanks' experimental equipment selection? Still the only food consumable provided is pudding and tea. Where's the USSR Extra rations, GER Chocolate, USA Case of Cola? Why is a speed governor still marked as equipment, if it's a consumable in the online game? Why are there no arty-based upgrade cards? The skills for crew, the stun cards? -And I leave the personal worst for last. The previous starter set came with six dice. It was manageable, but iffy when you throw 4 attack dice and then need to roll 6 for defense. 10 would have been perfect. But what can we say about the new starter set? If the IS-3 is shooting at a moving centurion behind cover, you'd need 12 at the very least to be comfortable. Though I accept you don't have to include the maximum number of possible dice rolls, why not include a minimum!? The Maus has a firepower of seven! Why do you still only get 6 dice to cast?!?! What are new players supposed to do, borrow a seventh die from a different game? By that logic, why provide any dice in the first place? It is beyond me why they thought to include six dice and a tank that boasts a firepower of seven. It's a good starter set but as an upgrade for the previous one? Missed the mark completely in my opinion. New tanks are the only real great improvement. The trays are different (not better), the cards and tokens are the same. The dice count is a downgrade. I can't see how it justifies the price upmark (in the Netherlands its 15 euros more expensive, 50 vs old's 35, in Serbia it's also 50 euros more expensive (58 vs 43). Thats my two cents. Have a great day!

pretty sure the IS-3 were present during the soviet victory parade post end of WW2, so i think youre correct about them showing it off.

I played "Tanks" but not "WoT". If you think of playing this my suggestion would be: Add as soon as possible upgrade and crew cards. This changes a the game a lot, makes it better and more interesting/more fun.

Upgrade cards are much cheaper in this version - makes them even more playable.

1/100th, or 15mm - as to timeframe, its World of Tanks, so anything from Panzer IIs to paper panzers and stuff form much later than ww2.
