    Yeah. Its different with different people. For example, Ross Pearson, who recently tried Featherweight and struggled to make the cut, despite being in his peak years. Hes back at Lightweight now and on a roll. Then you can get guys like Anderson who can still cut a LOT of weight even at 38. Its different with different people, but generally I've discovered that the older you get, the more difficult it is.

    @chaplinshouse You have a point with the Overeem comparison. But I think Mayhem is saying this because a few weeks ago before this interview Diaz is on video saying he was willing to go to 185 fight guys there. But when Mayhem called him out on it Diaz pulled the Pacquiao catchweight thing

    When he was nearly 10 years younger. As you get older, it gets more difficult to cut weight. Why do you think fighter jump up a weight as they get older? A prime example is Wanderlei jumping back up to Light Heavy, along with Brian Stann. Unless you're an amazing physical specimen, its incredibly hard to jump down weights when you hit your early 30s.

    @HolyRickstar 57th in the UFC MW division? Same at you bro'. You using a rank from Sherdog or something? MW isn't a stacked division at all, given from his fights, I don't think he's ranked below 15 at most- I can't name any fighters who reasonably and logically rank further than him, other than say, 12 if lenient.

    I wouldn't say so. Unless the cut for the purpose of being bigger than your opponents (Say if you're primarily a grappler w/ a strong top game to put your weight on your opponent) Though as a striker, you just want to be fatless and fast, so a weight cut is always good at any point in your career. Unless you're sucking a lot of water at the end of the cut, which I assume you're referring to.

    @howBizarre1988 He had to cut weight just to get down to middleweight. He probably walks around at light-heavyweight. And the point is Diaz CAN fight at middleweight, so wouldnt he? And Diaz looks like hes heavier than miller most of the time, so it would only make sense for them to fight at MW.

    @bigbirdgrappler60 uhm correction i actually walk around at 230-240lbs and in a couple months of eating healthy, grappling everyday, weights i got down to 200lbs 195 ish and in 4 days i got down to 189, healthy not starving i could still rep 225lbs on bench 4 sets of 12 and do all of my other training the same i could easily cut 5 more lbs in 3 days plus your aloud to be 1lb over, at that point i was 195 11% body fat and could of cut to 184 within that week

    After the fall of Fedor, all they had was Diaz. They couldn't afford having Diaz (which we all know he would've) to a free agent import. Diaz is "scared homie." Point blank. Not to mention he's a paper champion.

    @dafuksup nick diaz has said he would fight at 185, so why doesn't he fight mayhem at 185? cause hes scared

  • @timmyz55
    @timmyz5513 жыл бұрын

    @dafuksup Without starting anything, I just want to point out, Mayhem cuts a LOT to get to 185. To cut down to even 178 would pretty much leave him like a dried out prune. You can interpret that however you like. Also, Nick Diaz has moved up to 185 to go against Frank, and I think another guy, can't remember off the top of my head. Nick can make it up to 185 without a problem, Mayhem has issues making it down to even the normal limit. There's more to the 185 request than a weight advantage.

    i been smoking good shit bro, thats what. doesnt change the fact that gsp didnt do any damage nor did he try to even go for it at one point in the fight. he controlled diaz and landed 1 elbow the whole time on the ground and did fuck all else. thats the point. the ref should be standing the fight up if there is no action, stalling isnt something i respect.

    @snide95 the fight with shamrock was 180 and smith was 179 your right about that. but miller hasn't been past 185 in over 5 years because he can't fight at that diaz said if anyone offered the fight at 185 he would take it to me it should be 180-183 both are comfortable to fight at that weight if not then im done hearin about the fight ya know

    God I want this fight soooo bad, Idc which way the weight goes, just fucking DO IT. Though I do take Jason's side, mostly because he never asked for the beef and the Diaz bro's are too close of butt buddies to Shields that they don't want another man steppin up to him.

  • @Rangersman93
    @Rangersman9313 жыл бұрын

    @djmacdammit yeah but you were saying he's fought nobodies last time i check GSP was the best welterweight in the world and Miller fought him at welterweight and got his ass kicked cause he dropped down from middle weight hence why he doesn't want to fight at 170 cause he can't do it too well :)

    @myblock i hear ya but the fact that he will NOT let that go, to the point he's willing to not fight, shows he's not serious. nick can make 183 if needed. but in THIS scenario, the only fair thing to do with just one weight class separating 2 guys, is to meet half way. i'd be embarrassed insisting a guy i called out, gain 13 pounds while i only lose 2 or no deal. esp if i'm calling out a champ. that's admitting inferiority. that's never been done at catchweight. guys always meet half way

  • @umswagger
    @umswagger13 жыл бұрын

    So Mayhem says that asking for 178 is a joke, but 183 is ok? It's only a 5 lbs. difference, dude. Why don't they both meet in the middle?

    @PublicICON theres a difference between putting on the weight and taking it off if miller could cut the extra and fight at 179 and still be healthy and able to fight he would but cutting from 205 to 179 that fast would affect his ability to fight which is why he hasnt had a fight at that weight in 5 years now diaz on the other hand fought at that weight twice i believe last year against shamrock and another person yet won't fight miller as for the fight itself im done hearing from them both

    mayhem miller has fought at 170 before but he was walking around at 186, 187 then, and he still refused to do it again and decided to leave the fucking UFC just because it was so hard for him to make that weight. Now he walks around at about 203 and is at his limit when cutting to make 185, so its almost impossible to cut any more. Nick Diaz's natural weight is about 183, 184. So he's scared homie....

  • @bluenickels

    Has anyone, other than Lee Murray and Joe Son, fallen so far from the MMA heights? I suppose so, but Mayhem is a particularly fascinating case of a good, not great fighter, with tons of charisma and mental health issues. Here in late 2013 I can't say I wish Mayhem well, though I do hope he gets his life in order, so I guess I do. I just wish he'd shut up and get right, then start talking.

    i didn't ask why he was in strikeforce, and diaz has fought a ton of b and c level competition, you can't really give him a lot of credit for Daley since Daley always misses weight. real warriors are Georges, Jon fitch,ellenberger

  • @mrcphotographs

    @dafuksup actually bro diaz never specified so only diaz knows when he meant to fight at 185 all he said was i will fight at 185 just offer the fight now people are putting all these specific reasons to why he said that and when he meant. and yes its easier to gain the weight if miller lost the weight he normally loses then loses more to meet diaz at the weight he chose diaz would have the advantage because miller can't fight below that because he cuts to much weight as it is
