They were technically much better than us, but had zero discipline which was there down fall. There defender Massing tackle on caniggia in there opening game was absolutely awful.

Cameroon beaten Argentina by 1 goal,and Rojer milla made a fantastic dance steps, when i was just 19,the first football match live i watched in television.

That was the most consistent referee I've ever seen. I believe this was the best World Cup tournament for Cameron. They played like a superpower

Cameroon was badly robbed. I guess Thats why England cant win no more major competitions. Justice for cameroon. Cameroon was supposed to be the first African team to win the world cup.

Aside from the frenetic game itself, the referee supplied many eye-catching moments. I still giggle at how dramatic he was at certain decisive instances

Very dramatic and opportinistic South American referee. Edgardo Codesal Méndez of Uruguay That second penalty is a joke, as the referee is 30 meters away! I wish the VAR-system would have been in use in the 90"s, then the big nations would have gotten less "favours" Same type of referee in semi final 1994 Brasil - Sweden, when Thern got a red card from Dunga dummy, that should have been a caution at most, not a sending of! And yes...a south american referee when Brasil played, that was allowed in the days of Havelange! 💵💵💵💵💵

@@Inglese001 Agreed. I think he had two of the defenders fouling him for the first one and the defender and the goalie both hacking at him for the second. Shouldn't tarnish what was an excellent performance by the Cameroon team though. It's a shame we couldn't have met them later in the tournament, like the final, for example.

According football historians, one of the best generations English football ever had was the one that played Brazil in the 1970 World Cup. For those of you who haven´t had the opportunity , please take the time to watch that team´s performance. even though they lost in the quarter finals against West Germany names like Banks, Moore , Charlton and many more excelled in that competition. On a footnote , I´m neither English nor I am an english supporter ,I´m just a guy who enjoys real good football .

@@tuco1099 there were four outstanding teams during that World Cup, Brazil, England, West Germany and Italy. England and Germany had the most experience brought in from the previous cup. Brazil had their stars in their prime including Pele while Italy was in a process of changing players because they had bombed in 1966. Brazilian journalists and fans had no confidence in their national prior to the competition. They all had Brazil was going to be ridiculed . Who in their wildest dreams knew this squad would be be remembered as one of the greatest teams ever to play in the history of sports?

This 1990 team was also brilliant. Gascoigne, Waddle,Likener,Platt, Beardsley, Shilton all top class players. And the great Bobby Robson in the bench. A team to be remembered

@@kostaspanayotou5293 that 1990 team had the less talent than their 1970 counterparts. There are reasons to believe the current young English National Team has what it takes to go all the way. The only trouble is Southgate, he should let the players play more loose to exploit their natural skills. This couch is more of a strategist than a motivational man , tactics are important, but the pie is burning in the oven I want a guy who supports and cheers me up more on my side than a guy telling where I should or Shouldn't position myself on the field. If he corrects than, there's no doubt in my mind England could reach the final match with a more than fair chance of winning it.

My vote is for the 1970 team, then 66, then the current team (which is far better in depth than the entertaining 1990 team)

Peter Shelton one of the most best goalkeeper ever in England at the time in 1990 World Cup Italy.I'll never forgot him this goalkeeper.

First one hard to tell with limited camera angles back then. Second one definitely.. kicks it to nowhere and leaves his legs for contact. Ones like that should never be given. Happens every time these days.

I recall watching this with Cameroon having several chances and taking good control of the game in large parts but they let themselves down at key moments. That miss by Mfede for example. The finish needed to be more composed but he just whacks the ball straight at Shilton.

Cameroon could be won easily but messed up some critical goal scoring chances

The ref was so happy blowing those penalties to England. England understood they had yet again stolen from an African country. They then arrange a friendly match in the heart of winter as a token of forgiveness.

I never saw a referee giving penalties to England with such conviction and passion like this uruguayan one. A little more shy giving Germany the penalty in the Final (because argentines players wanted to eat him), but good effort overall xD

This is what Gary Lineker said about it, on his twitter account: "Can I point out to those that have, over the years, accused me of diving against Cameroon, that it was the chasing defender that caught me with his lunge not the goalkeeper. Had a gash in my leg so I’m fairly confident of being right. Time to put the record straight."

The referee was like something out of an early 90s video game 🎮

Did anyone notice that the scoeboard in the top left corner of the screen changes incorrectly for the first two goals? When England score their first, Cameroon's score changes and when Cameroon score their first, England's score changes from zero to one. It changes correctly for the rest of the goals.

I watched this game , Cameroon were tops , they played flowing football , I wish VAR was they one of the greatest surprises in that World cup.

I watched this match live in a bar in Ulcing Montenegro it was packed full of Germans all shouting for Cameroon it felt lonely being from England but what a game to win.

Couldn't agree more. Best game of that World Cup by far. Cameroonian team performance is memorable.

Cameroon were a quality side, this match took an awful lot out of us and despite this, we still deserved to beat Germany in the Semi. Germany having an arguably slightly easier tie in their Quarter Final with Czechoslovakia.

Cameroon was badly robbed. I guess Thats why England cant win no more major competitions. Justice for cameroon. Cameroon was supposed to be the first African team to win the world cup.

I just wish to know how FIFA managed to screw up football sooooo bad, everytime I watch an old match it's always 2ay more fun and exciting than what we see today.smh I wish they bring back old style football

@@urbanekitchen8922 En tout, le Cameroun a le meilleur football du continent africain. Lorsqu'une équipe réussi à battre le Cameroun, c'est la fête, parce que c'est loin d'être ordinaire. Je suis de la Côte d'Ivoire, mais je vous assure que lorsque le Cameroun ne participe pas à une pour moi elle perd de son authenticité 🇨🇲❤️🇨🇮 Je vous kiffe grave 👍

We were all annoyed at scorecard 😂😂, England were ahead 1-0 but the scorecard read ENG 0 CAM 1 , finally they corrected themselves ENG 1 CAM 1 ....when Cameroon equalised. I 🤣😂🤣

The african mentality is seen at the third goal of england. Cameroon players didnt even move. The middelfielders didnt even care about making a single move....

4 yaşındaydım ve 90 dünya kupasını hayal mayal hatırlıyorum. 94 te ise İtalyanın penaltılarla finalde kaybettiği maçta kaçan penaltıya kadar çok net hatırlıyorum.
