Luego de este partido Bilardo sacó las tres tiras de los shorts para que se parezcan a las del mundial 86 para tener suerte, pueden ver en los siguientes partidos que los shorts ya no las tienen. Just an anecdote for the curious. After this match, Bilardo removed the three strips from the shorts so that they look like the ones from the 1986 World Cup to be lucky, you can see in the following matches that the shorts no longer have them. The situation was different.. here by then cameroon was leading while england was trailing 1 goal and would not dare risking such tackle and got red card

Here i am. They lost to Cameroun in 1990 the first match, and after that they went far. Perhaps after losing to Saudi A, it would mean to Argentina fight very hard and reach the final.

@@sirtakiyan2968 it was a very negative world cup overall and Argentina's tactics along with a massive amount of luck helped them plus the mental power they had with just having Maradona on the pitch. The only decent game they had was against Italy. Cameroon, Romania, Brazil, Yugoslavia and Germany played much better. They would have been the worst ever team to win the world cup if they succeeded.

What kind of foul did the first Cameroonian player commit that deserves a sending off? Typically of a bad officiating.

What on earth happened to Nery Pumpido in 1990? Was he playing through an illness, or did he just suffer a dramatic loss of form and confidence, He had been such a reliable keeper in 1986, but in 1990 he looked tired and jaded, and a pale shadow of his former self - that was a catastrophic blunder on the Cameroon goal! He lasted about 10 minutes into Argentina's second match of the 1990 World Cup, before completely mistiming a rush, and breaking his leg after colliding with another player, and had to be substituted for Sergio Goyocochea - ironically, it was largely down to Goyocochea that Argentina recovered from this embarassing start and went on to reach the final - we'll never know now, but I find it very hard to believe that the jaded, lethargic Pumpido would have stopped all the penalties that Goyocochea did!

Ha ha ha. Two red cards but still won❤❤❤
