World Cruise, Day 84 of 111, Gythio, Greece

Just roaming the village. Meeting locals. Exploring with no plan. The locals were friendly and welcoming. Beautiful coastline views.
Also known as Gythio, Gythion, Gytheio or Gytheion, it is a pretty Peloponnese town, with several great beaches all around. It is located 270 kms from Athens
Gythio is a historic town of Peloponnese, located west of the Laconian Golf. The town has been inhabited since the prehistoric years when Gythio was a major commercial center. Throughout the centuries it has played an important role in the events of Greek history and mainly during the Turkish domination, traces of this time period can still be seen.

Nice video. Good for you for mixing a bit with the locals. Too many tourists, even ones who stay in one place for long, don't. Btw that eel like fish was a Mediterranean moray, indeed belonging to the eel family. Very nasty and persistent bite they have. I have to wonder though why of all places in mainland Greece and her islands the cruise ship had to stop only at the remote town of Gythio. Weird..
