Workshop stove build
In this video, I demonstrate the process of making a stove to heat my garage and at the same time the workshop in the winter. All these years I heated my garage with electric heaters, but together with power tools, they constantly overload my electrical system. So I finally decided to arrange for a proper place for the heating, especially since I have enough of wood waste. I understand that playing with fire is bad, so I tried to do everything properly and safely, especially with curious young children around.
For the body of the stove, I used the remains of a water boiler, left over from my previous project "Two BBQs made from old water boilers". I also decided to use the remnants of refractory bricks from the old stoves that my grandparents once used.
It was another challenge and experiment for me. I am happy with the outcome, stove works propety. The cold prevented me from working with wood in wintery conditions. Now this problem is solved!
Thank you all for watching!
Stay warm and safe!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thank you for putting the filter on when you do your welding. So many KZreadrs don't do that and it really irritates me when I watch them weld. Although you might want to consider using a darkening filter over the entire video rather than just the spot where you're doing the weld. It might look a bit cleaner than just the circle.

that's a very nice stove. I have been heating with wood for the past 50 years. I've seen many installations come and go. It looks to me that you have done an excellent job - enjoy. If you ever feel like you want to tinker wit the stove design - "secondary burn' - you created the baffled pathway in there for the hot gases so you are part way there. You'd need a secondary air injection point and then a secondary burn box - you have the space in the can, so outwardly it would look nearly the same. My chimney is heavily insulated - a sealed sleeve inside the existing masonry chimney so it has larger thermal mass and a trapped air blanket next to the sleeve which heats up quickly .... but this combined with the US EPA Phase 2 Compliant firebox on my stove and after 7 years and 35 cords of firewood there were not enough deposits (yet) to bother running a brush down the flue - nothing to brush off (I do get a pile of stuff at the bottom of the clean-out every year. I think that the thin wall of the Stainless steel liner simply expands and contracts too much for any deposits to remain attached once they dry and harden .... they just flake off and fall. I have seen VERY clogged chimneys in the past and I have seen chimney fires in action, this is not something I take lightly) Regardless of your future plans, enjoy the warmth your hobby provides!

Love that rustic look of the used firebrick. The use of the fins on the outside does help disperse the heat greatly. Great design on the stove and cubbyhole to install it. Once again the quality control department gave it their approval so everything is good. Actually I have a wood stove in my shop. I purchase a cord or two of split oak and hickory from a guy each year so it's not so bad plus all my scraps also. This year I traded off a chest of drawers I built for him for the wood. Hope you and your families have a very Merry Christmas .

You are a very talented man! Nicely done. You're hired! Take care and be safe. Perilous times.
