We head over to Alan's parent's to buy another load of hay. Watch as Leonard uses his Belgians to pull the hay for Alan to load it up.

My grandfather farmed with nothing but horses. He passed away in 1951 at the age of 51. We lived a few miles south west of Truman. His last team was Belgians, their names was Barney and Bess. They both passed away in the later 50's and were laid to rest on the Farm. I was born in 55 so never meet grandpa but grandma said I did meet the team. Lol. All the horse drawn equipment was keep in a machine shed and I remember playing on it pretending I was driving the horses doing all kinds of farming. Oh what fun days.

There is some waste but usually not bad, if we have that we know will be kept outside we will put the twine closer together so it sheds water much better, we also make sure there is space between the bales on all sides and they are in a place where there is a lot of sun and wind, that also seems to help. Thanks for watching!

I think on average a round bales is about 18-20 square bales. We like to have 1200 small squares, and about 200 round bales for the fall/winter. The cows in the barn will typically get 8 small squares a day, and have 3 round bales out free choice that will last 2 or 3 days.
