Great video, awesome to see the chief put out a fire. Our fire chief helpes us with every fire we respond to. We are a small volunteer fire department with 7 people, but we usually have 1-3 respond all the time. We do our best. Thanks for the upload.

I have always said this, chiefs are firefighters first. There’s no reason why you can’t get on the hose line when you don’t have the manpower. I’m also a strong believer in there’s no need in 800 fd suvs at a scene. Great work and great knock down. Keep up the good work and stay safe

We do end up with quite a few SUVs on scenes, but we know as chiefs when we respond mutual aid we're flexible to operate at any level -- task, tactical, or strategy. And always firefighters first.

Beast mode….love that, I used to love it when I was deputy chief and the rig was short staffed. Never miss a chance to take the knob in on initial attack. Man I miss it, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Keep up the strong work and above all, everybody goes home.

We’ve got a good working arrangement between chiefs, especially with this jurisdiction. We’re big on putting chiefs inside as division supervisors - among many other benefits, it’s consistent when the experience and comfort of our crews is not always consistent thanks to the home-response model. I’m usually only in the Durango for first-due fires. And, always, a firefighter first! Edit to add: the other benefit (obviously I wasn’t the division sup here) is we can fill any role, and we expect each other to if we need to. Once strong command is in place, other chiefs can serve wherever we’re needed - which is usually on the line during the daytime.

Well all this is " STUFF " we all have STUFF , just some folks collect more or hold onto more STUFF , we all judge on OUR STUFF compared to who has how much . Putting out a FIRE if what these fire fighters do and don't judge other folks STUFF, it all burns . Short changed on manpower is a safety issue. Good safe guys, do what you can do.

I've removed that portion of the video from this link. In the description, it mentioned I was not referring to Wood County. I recently trained all their dispatchers and they were laughing at how many times I posted a caveat that I wasn't talking about them. I apologize for my offensive language. It came from a place of emotion based in the fact that the agency I was referring to made a mistake that cost valuable seconds when responding to a house fire. I take my responsibilities and our profession seriously, and personally, and I let that get the best of me when I responded that way in the discussion. -Chief Barrett Dorner, firechief@laketwp.com

They did. This was a five department response, but this was a daytime fire when it’s difficult to staff for primarily home-response-based departments.
