Working out but not losing weight?

Thoughts for those of you looking for weight loss or weight gain.
Sometimes the missing link is adjusting your eating habits.
That said, eat and drink however you like! I know diet is a passionate topic for some people.
I'm not trying to take away food or force anything you don't like upon you.
This is just one aspect you can consider optimizing I'd you like.
Hope you all have a great day!

Food can be a sensitive topic for some people. This video is specifically for the people asking "will the Hybrid Routine help me lose/gain weight?" And the answer is yes - to both. BUT the variable is often what you're eating and how much. Obviously, this is a loaded topic and there are many different diets (or eating styles, whatever) that work for different people. So I'm not trying to cram every possibility in this short video. I just encourage you to explore different diets that might work for you. If you're unable to do this without feeling anxiety or nervousness around your food, you may want to take a look at your relationship with food. This can come in different ways - but some people choose to work with a coach. Just look into it. It is a MAJOR advantage to be able to experiment with different foods freely. We are not talking starvation here. We're talking something like "hmm maybe I'll cut back on chocolate cake" or "maybe I'll try less dairy and see how I feel." Hope you're all having a good day! Thank you. As ever, your channel is one of extremely few in the fitness niche (if not arguably the ONLY one, certainly only I've ever seen) that are truly safe for those of us who struggle with disordered eating. 💚 You just discussed diet more lovingly and inclusively and untriggeringly than plenty of literal eating-disorder specialists ever manage to do. That's a seriously incredible achievement. And you absolutely objectively nailed the only true generalizations about humans and diet -- that there are many options, everyone has different needs and sets of ideal options, and the fundamental principle should be having a healthy relationship with food and enjoying the freedoms and peace of mind that come with that, before being in a position to take advantage of any deliberate regimen. I think this may be literally the first time any fitness-centric educator with a significant audience has successfully given diet advice that's actually for EVERYONE. Thank you so much for consistently being a fitness influencer who actually speaks to EVERYONE who has a body, not just to those who are already generally adept at celebrating and caring for theirs. You always nail the cautious medical nuance when it comes to injuries and handicaps as well (I'm in relevant fields and a huge healthcare education nerd, and often find myself praising the balance you strike of sharing actionable info without ever veering into potentially contraindicated advice). All of us with disabilities, chronic illness/pain/etc, eating disorders, and other limitations affecting our relationship to our bodies are extremely fortunate to have you for a connection to learning to care for ourselves with gentleness and joy. You really are an extraordinary force for good in the world, more than you will probably ever be able to personally internalize. Thanks for being you. 🙏

As someone who recovered from an eating disorder, but who still can't seem to get into execrise without old unhealthy habits rearing their ugly heads, I really appreciate this channel. It's one of the only fitness-centered places on the internet that I can trust will never trigger that little voice in my head telling me to starve myself. You so consistently center positivity, going at your own pace, and not to shame yourself for not being able to do something (yet) that I find myself unable to be as mean to myself as I used to when it comes to the state of my body. I am currently trying to improve my relationship with food, while also looking into working out and trying to center my actual reasons, wanting to get stronger and feel more energized, instead of weight loss, while I do so.

For me my problem is snacking. I want a treat, so I have one. Repeatedly. For a while now I've been having good results from eating only meals, nothing in between. If I want a dessert it has to be small/light enough for me to want it as part of one of my meals. If I can't eat it now, I don't, and limiting that instant gratification helps me teach myself not to snack when I'm not actively dieting. I hope trying this can help someone.

I’ve had a lot of progress with licensed dietitians as opposed to someone who’s just a “nutritionist”, of course good advice can come from anyone but I personally trust someone more who knows how food works scientifically. I’d also look for someone who helps with intuitive eating. It puts much more focus on what your body needs rather than an average statistic or diet culture trends. It’s helped me kick my “sugar addiction” and maintain a balanced diet while being nurturing and feeling satisfied! Starvation is one of the worst things we can do to our body yet it’s the go to for diet culture. When you eat food you love and get all your nutrients your body can manage itself more efficiently and stop hoarding fat reserves to keep you alive when it thinks you’re in a famine. Plus you stop craving foods high in fat, when you’re starving your body panics and wants the easiest quickest way to energy to keep you alive. Letting yourself have fats and other nutrients really curbs those cravings and lets you have the right amount instead of overloading on it. Those are just a few thoughts that have helped me have a better relationship with food, disconnecting from toxic outdated info about diets and loving what you eat is so beneficial! It’s a process to figure out what works best for you but it’s worth it! Food is not your enemy, it’s everything your body needs to thrive, it’s just about balance.

Hey I’m down from 249 to 217 after maybe a little over a month of listening to you . for all my fellow diet strugglers who love chicken fingers and French fries even at fancy restaurants my advice is calorie control. Stay below 2k cals a day and eat one big meal. It’s all about consistency even if you fail as long as you try and keep that consistent schedule you can’t not improve. The worst of it is outside life affecting you , for example a party where everyone eats or you just feel down; those are the moments you are weakest and it’s ok. Likely they will kill your streak the first couple of times but you will learn and advance

Main thing that helped me get was to experiment. Realized low carb wasn’t for me and I felt way better with higher carbs in my diet, especially in healthy sources. Realized what filled me up and what didn’t. It takes time but experimenting helps! I try to have balance with enjoying sweets but in moderation and I realized not to freak out if I’m served something at someones house or go on vacation and the food I’m eating isn’t as healthy, I try to enjoy and then just get back on track with how I usually eat. :) these things have been a factor in helping me maintain my weight which I am happy with! The duet is literally the only important thing about weight loss. Forget the gym. I lost 45 lbs doing my normal job and playing video games after work.. eat right and your body will lose the weight and your brain will literally function 100x better. You can’t know what I mean unless you do it. You’re just an s tier person when you eat healthy.

I have been suffering because of my diet for a while. I'm rapidly gaining weight due to my extremely unhealthy relationship with food. I eat unhealthy things, at bad times, I eat a lot of food, I don't regulate the amount at all like cutting back if I've had too much recently, etc. I know I probably can't exercise forever so I want to be able to eat the bare minimum and be satisfied with that. I don't want to be stuck eating like a rabbit for the rest of my life and not get to enjoy food in general because I'll eat myself to death. I'm currently working with my doctor to figure it out but we haven't made any progress yet plus finding referrals that are available is very difficult nowadays but I'm still going plus these videos help a lot. I'm even considering a safe fad diet to have something structured to follow temporarily to actually drop pounds then when my weight is lower then it'll be easier to continue to lose weight or maintain it. I know they can be dangerous so I plan on being careful and looking into which ones are actually effective and can give me the boost I need to make progress.

Perhaps try good fats like in nuts and such? Thats the healthiest option. The cheapest option is cooking with lots of oil, sunflower oil is the cheapest I think, Olive oil is more expensive but healthier. Every oil is in the most calorie dense section I think.

If you look at Hampton's other videos, you will notice a theme: start with exercises that minimize the pain in both muscles AND joints. If you can do a squat without having your knees crack, you need to strengthen your joints by doing easier exercises (third/half squats) to strengthen your joints and work your way up until a full range of motion squat. Hope this helps!

Many people find therapy to be helpful in this area. There are likely also helpful books on this subject, but be wary, there can also be books that promote diet culture in ways that promote unhealthy relationships. In my opinion, researching body neutrality can be very helpful here, because it promotes the idea that food is morally neutral, and that you can make the decision to eat "healthy" or not, and to what degree without deserving any shame for it. And it also promotes the idea that the aspects of health that you choose to work on or not is up to you. Things like counting calories and restricting when and what you eat may cause anxiety, or the desire to put way too much emphasis on "getting it right." If this is the case for you, working with a therapist is likely a great option, along with just not working on eating better for a while. Eventually, you may get to a place where you can make these food decisions without putting yourself in an unhealthy mindset. Best of luck!!

@@dawn8293 Thanks. Therapy isn't really an option when it's 80$/hour of therapy around here. My issues seems to be consistency. I have little issue sticking to a 1500-2000 calorie diet per day, but ADHD tends to make me lose track, and get "bored" of it. Along with an inconsistent schedule, sometimes I don't eat all day then eat a lot when I can.

@@staggerdagger ADHD eating is it's own whole issue. I have that problem, too, and mostly I just eat what I am willing to when I feel hungry and work on being hydrated and aware of the signals my body gives me. For me, this includes trying to keep my house stocked with both healthy foods, line fruits and veggies, as well as any foods I know I would like to eat, like tater tots, popsicles, and pasta, especially foods that are quick to make and eat.
