Funny seeing this video, I was just speaking to my wife that while I like my career, software implementation manager, I really want a career in a field doing something I love. I love motorcycles, so thought about looking into owning a Indian motorcycle franchise or something in the motorcycle category. I thought about being a vendor also, or opening up a storage facility for bikes, trikes, can am and slingshots. We both agree that I should prob take a part time job at a bike dealership to see if I actually like it. Money is the issue for me as well, plus I work from home full-time so giving up that freedom is a huge switch up. So I'm still brainstorming.

Yeah it’s a different beast. I do something different now at a dealership but I do miss some of my free time.
Most dealerships have a slump sometime in the year, even dealerships that are in places you can ride year round. So you have to be aware that there will be about 3 months every year where you won't be making very much. Also you need to know that peak riding time is also peak motorcycle sales time, most dealerships have a couple months that are blackout dates where no one is allowed to take time off because it's all hands on deck. Obviously I can't speak to whatever dealership you'll be working at but that is my experience of working at Harley dealership for 2 years. It is really awesome to be around like minded people who share a similar passion for riding motorcycles, and getting to see and test ride the new models and that be apart of your job. But it's still a job lol there's still shitty parts of any job.

As the Magpie Flies thank you so much. I feel this will help me make a decision
In addition to being able to talk with your new co-workers about motorcycles........you'll also be able to talk with them about how difficult it is some months to pay your bills........

I’m not familiar with that. I never was in sales.
Good for you brother! Not too many get to do what they want. Being happy is key.
Hey, I work at a bank as well and I’m sick of it. 22 years I feel has been wasted and unappreciated. I am applying for a job at HD. My salary issue is also the same. What a mirrored story you have spoken of. Whatchoo gonna do?

What dealership you going to?
Go for it. If I had the chance I would. I feel exactly what you're saying about bikes being life. But always consider the money side too, it's why I haven't ever tried to move because bills and security. If you go for it best of luck my friend

The GorillaBiker that’s the dilemma I’m faced with also. The mortgage and other bills need to be taken care. But I feel like every successful story has a scary start.

@@theinfinitryda yup you never gain much if you don't risk anything. I don't know your situation but if you have savings and banking is somthing you could return to if you had to then why the hell not try it man. If I wasn't in debt with no savings I would 😂
me too buddy same situation 😁😌
What did you finally decide? The downside imo is you have to work Saturday’s when everyone else is riding.
