​@@scvvmas someone who has worn giant platforms for a long time, I would definitely much rather the layers come apart if I were to take a spill. otherwise, it's just unnecessary damage to the shoe and ankle. as long as the layers stack together flush and it's securely stuck together, the layers shouldn't be going anywhere or impacting walking moreso than a standard platform. they're already not really known for being the most stable shoe.

They did it first.

That idea actually has been done before, albeit not the exact the design. There's an artist from the '80s(?) that did this, but instead of adding multiple layers of the same size, you would just choose one layer/block that was the height you wanted to be that day. They were used for a while for themed parties where everyone would be the same height, just wearing the correct shoe to match (so a 5'6" person would wear a 6" blocked shoe while a 6' person would wear a shoe with no added block). I can't remember the artist's name but the shoes were black and blue. This new design looks fun.

I feel like some experimental fashion brand in the 1960 or 70s probably did but they weren’t popular so they were forgotten about. Platform shoes were really popular in the 70s and the 1960s had a massive craze for fashion designers experimenting with “futuristic” designs. Attachable platforms that could raise the height of the existing shoe 100% sounds like something that could’ve happened in that era, they just didn’t think to patent it
