Relatively speaking starting customizing shoes is pretty cheap. I started with my own money at 12. It only cost me around 100 bucks.
@Toms_Channel
Жыл бұрын
Start off small. 1 pair, few paint, easy design. Sell with profit, repeat process, buy 2 pairs with the profits, buy more paints, … that’s how you grow. Maybe even expand beyond just shoes to different media like handbags. I started with a bikehelmet for my son, his friend also wanted a customized helmet, then i did one for my daughter. Parents at the school now approach me for customized helmets for their children and they spread the word to other people.
Thanks for the video. My daughter really loves art, and this might be a fun thing to do together.
That editing was sick 🔥🔥🔥
The thing going on your fingers isn't paint from the shoe its just that acetone is very drying to the skin so that happens. Talking from experience of doing gel nails 😊

In my opinion the best way to do the paint splatter is by using your finger to push the brush forward. U basically just grab the paint brush with your index finger and pull back on the brush, it gives a really nice splatter look.

Did you give it a go? If so, how did it turn out? When I've got the money for it I'm going to give my husband's renzos a new look!
Hello. I appreciate this video. Very informative and the portion where you’re tapping up the sneakers had me cracking up. Very funny. Well done. Usually I see tutorials on Instagram but they’re done in warp speed. I can’t learn anything from that. Although this video is a year old I hope you will respond to a few questions I have. First question: The Matte Acrylic Finisher, how would I apply that to the finished work? I will be trying to customize an all white AF1 soon. Want to know all I can know before I spend a $100. Don’t want to be throwing money away now. Second question: What is your recommendation (tools and paint to use) on going about painting the outsole and midsole? I’m not a fan of white bottoms. Third question: What is your recommendation (tools and paint) on going about painting the inside of the shoe and tongue? Fourth and last question: when you leave the sneaker to dry what is the time period that is best to leave the sneakers drying and if (I don’t have the time as you stated you did and want to dry them quicker) what would be the best practice for that? Again, I appreciate this video. Informative and entertaining. Especially the tapping portion. Hilarious.
Looking at the AF1’s with the blue tape and then being black with the paint splatter looks amazing

Loving your neon looks at the start of the vid! I have a pair of purple AF1s that I’d like to customise. Given it’s a dark colour to begin with, is it just a case of a using a white base coat? Do those panels require and extra acetone or sanding etc? Cheers!
@mkmcustoms1950
3 жыл бұрын
My rule of thumb is if I’m laying down a color darker than the base color you don’t need white base color but if it’s lighter 100% lay down at least 2-3 coats of light gray or white.
looks cool - kinda Batman-y-lookin. I think you need a fresh xacto blade tho, lol

Would you usually go back and paint white over the sections of painters tape that bled through? Or do you have a technique to remove the small bleeds?
@mkmcustoms1950
2 жыл бұрын
Great question! You can use a toothpick to try and chip at dried paint. That usually works pretty well but it can damage the leather. Alternatively, you can use the cotton things that you put in your ear and dip them in acetone. When you rub the acetone on the paint it will be removed. Acetone in general is a great tool to get rid of paint. However any paint that gets on the sock liner or stitching can’t be removed (for the most part). You can try bleaching them or painting them white, but bleach is very unpredictable and the white paint won’t be the same color as the leather. Hope this helped.
Who wouldn't get bored watching your videos man😂😂💯💯💯🤜🤛

This is probably too late but if you need the paint to last longer/be more durable you want to use leather acrylic paint as apposed to just plain acrylic paint. The regular paint isn't as flexible and will crack when walking. But if you just want to practice and the shoes won't be worn at all or much, go for the stuff you can get at Walmart. Pay attention to whether the paint is matte or glossy. I definitely suggest just getting the Angelus paint online if at all possible.

Yo should I only put the finish on the leather part?

It doesn’t rlly matter if there’s overspray. Bcs you can’t see the finisher once it’s dried. However when applying the finisher make sure all the paint is dry. And if your airbrushing it on make sure to clean your airbrush thoroughly before spraying.
The most difficult part is to cut a tape by using blade, while using it there are high chance to scratching or cutting of shoes rubber or a leather through blade.
I am laughing so hard at the taping part XD Thanks for the precious advices!
I never comment on YT videos but omg thanks. You're hilarious. At this point I've watched IDK how many vids to get ready for my first pair and this has me cracking up. Literally laughing out loud, no chuckle lmbo
