Words of Life 50th Anniversary Side B

Музыка

This concludes our "panel discussion" (i.e. 3 cousins reflecting on the Wilson Brothers' first album from 1973). I regret that I did so much talking. I should have allowed Brian and Maria to contribute more. Sometimes I get going and don't know when to stop. :-) We enjoyed making this video. It isn't perfect (like the crumpled-up Walmart bag I left in the floor below the table), but maybe it can generate some renewed interest in this album. In addition to making the tracks available for download, I also hope to make the album available again one day on vinyl. We still have a box of 20-25 original press records. Once upon a time, I felt these should be saved, but now I think they should be sold so they can be out there in the world, out there being played and enjoyed. Lord willing, we'll eventually post them for sale and get new copies printed. I'll close with one thought that I left out and one note that might help some listeners understand one point in the commentary. 1) When I said that Ray provided most of the guitar picking for the Wilson Brothers over the years, I forgot to say that he also played mandolin for many years as well, in live performances and in recordings. 2) The place in "You'll Be Rewarded Over There" that I was talking about when describing the runs that Ray made during the steel break can be heard at 8:51 through 8:57. Thanks for watching, and we hope to upload our 5th annual train song series in November.

I've never listened to a lot of gospel music, but I've really enjoyed these two videos! The music is great! But the commentary really takes it over the top!! Tks for doing this & sharing w/ the YT community!

Thanks, Johnny. I was afraid the commentary part might be seen as a hindrance to hearing the music. I'm glad it wasn't. I'll upload the whole album one day.

Love you guys. What a set of memories to have. Always dreamed of a family band, as as a kid, our family had a lot of talent , but never did a family music event.

I am delighted to see this and I will listen. It's been on my mind to suggest that y'all might consider releasing "We've Almost Forgotten God". THEN I realized you already have. I don't believe you want us trying to add links, or I would put it here. THANK YOU for all of this, all the work that went into sharing this wonderful music.

IDK I think it might be a time to re-release, share it on its own again. We certainly could stand to hear it across the land. IMO. 🙌🏼 💓

Love this video as much as the one for side A. I think my most favorite on this side is We’re just Rehearsing. I could listen to it on repeat. The entire album is good. Thank you for sharing it with us. Look forward to what you share next.

Thanks so much, AClark! Glad you enjoyed it. JR is a great song. :-) Pap and Ray may have sung it more than any other song in their live shows, often as their opening song.

Thanks, Jimmy. That's her given name, but she has always preferred "Tipper," which was a nickname srarted by my brother when they were kids. Tipper was just a baby, not quite able to walk, and Steve thought she was going to tip over. :-)

Entering a restaurant the other day, I was moved to comfort a mother who's 2 year old boy was crying as they were waiting for their lunch. As I passed by their table to be seated, I Luke six forty fived loudly enough for the tables around them to hear... ''I'm about that hungry too son! I'd cry right along with you; if they wouldn't put me in jail.'' Her discomfort lifted as the tables around her laughed out in unison. Saw a truthful T-Shirt I thought I'd share with Y'all... Normal Won't Return But Jesus Christ Will Wished I knew who'd sold them. They'd be free to use my following quote... His Spent & Risen Life Matters Most Or Ours Never Would ''All this talk about equality. The only thing people really have in common is that they are all going to die.'' ~Bob Dylan (2014)

Thank you so much for this comment. I bet your comment did really help that mother see that her son crying wasn't as big a deal as she may have thought. I love that shirt too. Actually, pretty profound. Thanks for sharng the Dylan quote. Though I think we have more in common than that, I know why he said it. I think that's part of the point Pap was trying to get across in his song Live to Never Die. One line says, "There's one thing that just won't change, and no one can deny: the very plain and simple truth, we live, yet we die." One of my favorite verses from Dylan: "I've been walking 40 miles of bad road. If the Bible is right, this world will explode. I been trying to get as far away from myself as I can. Some things are too hot to touch. The human mind can only stand so much, and we can't win with a losing hand."

@@BlindPigAndTheAcornBest of timing in the release of those songs of Pap. Between the Feast of Trumpets & Yom Kippur Y'all! Bob's the (reluctant modern day prophet) in these; our ongoing book of Acts. It is the 3:16 of John written upon hearts of Christians that's mirrored upon the 3:16 scroll of Malachi. See Y'all there.

Chordie is a website with at least a million songs. You don't have to read music to get the chords to any song you can name. Often there are versions made by different people of the same song. The way you use a cappo, all you need to see is the chord patterns which it has. I don't play anymore but I wonder if your familys songs are on it too.
