Jerry knew he better get a ring on her finger, I bet he thought she was the prettiest thing he’d ever seen too!
Precious, just precious. She seems so devoted to her late husband. She is very beautiful. I can tell she is a Godly lady.
Well she is just the most precious jewel ever!! What a lovely story. What a Homecoming that will be some day.

Wow what a genuine love story. Wish I'd watched it sooner. God gave you the man alright. Now Tipper, this is your Mother, not Granny, right??
What a sweet story! Jerry was one of the finest men I've ever known. He adored Evelyn and she adored him. It was a pleasure to see.
Your dad, Jerry, couldn’t ask for a better legacy than the love story your mom shared. To say how thankful to God for them meeting, and how good he was to everyone. She also said the Lord really blessed her with Jerry. Wow. That’s a beautiful love story.
This beautiful soul deserves the rarest of jewels.
Imagine 52 years of Trustworthy Companionship. That's a Miracle anymore. My Mama and Daddy were married 15 yrs when my Daddy died in 1973. Mama was a Widow for 39 years waitin' to go home to Daddy. True Love is Eternal. May God continue to Bless you Dear Lady ❤️.
We will be needing more stories from Granny.....

Granny is about as precious as can possibly be. As She said,, if she hadn't gotten home sick and got back home,,would have never met Mr Jerry. Wish every human being on the planet had the kind heart Granny has. ,World would be a much better place for sure. Tell Granny Thank You for sharing her 'love story".

this is the beauty of this short mortal life, men and women in total dedication and love to one another. It's sad that people today perceive this as some burdon or contrition
What a touching love story for Valentine's Day.
What a precious story 🥺 my mother-in-law married at 16 and has now been married for 51 years. My husband and I have been together for about 17 years now and I look forward to telling these kinds of stories to our 2 daughters and their children in the future. Thank you for sharing this! It brightened my day.
She's a "My cup runneth over" kind of lady!!! A fine example of gratitude!

Tipper, I hadn't realized how much your mother and I have in common. I am 80, widowed, and was married to my dear husband for 52 years. What a wonderful love story she tells. Bless you, Granny and all your family.
Bless her heart. She was a rebel, goin off and getting married without her mama knowing. She is so sweet. I wish I could sit and talk with her. She reminds me so much of my family. I loved hearing their stories too. Thank you for sharing.
I think that is one of the sweetest love story's I've ever heard, because it's not something that's been made up...it's real. I just love your Mother. She's an Angel.
Wow - the resemblance between the granddaughters and grandmother is incredible!
What a Lovely Lady. Very few young people today will ever experience the type of Love and respect that this Lady is speaking of and it's sad.
What a wonderful story. I, too, had a precious husband for 54 years, & like your mama, I miss him every day. The memories are a balm & our kids, grands & greats are a blessing. She is a precious lady & her story is touching! God bless her & you. Love and prayers ❤😊

What a beautiful story and memories.
I got married at 18 because my husband was off in the military and i missed him so much. I still remember being terrified to tell my parents we had decided to get married and I would moving across the country. We're still together 32 yrs later. Watching this lovely lady talk about her husband warmed my heart. 💜
What a blessing! A mother and father loving their home and family for fifty- two years.

what a beautiful story, I remember part of it from another video. a time when men and women knew what it meant to make a lifetime commitment to one another. Jerry looked confidant and cool. Definitely alpha male. Something missing from society today. We could use more Jerrys in our world now.

Serendipity ❤️ Puts down handkerchief and thinks, “ Where’s that ‘55 right now?” Your Mother’s an absolute treasure. Preservation of the stories and the ways is so very important. My Mom had five sisters, growing up in the Willamette valley in the ‘20’s-‘30’s. Takes me back…🥲

52 years, almost unheard of nowadays. What a happy life she has had,God has truly blessed her!!
Oh man... brought tears to my eyes... I can feel her sadness from losing him. Such a beautiful woman!
I lived in Haywood county for 20 years, I lived in the back of the hills. I lived where moonshine was made.. I truly loved the area, the people were true. My grandmother was full of stories of the Appalachia stories and I always loved hearing her stories. My grandmother truly lived off the land and what the area had to offer. My grandmother made a living off of selling her honey and apples, grandfather had died before I was born.. Grandmother is gone, but sure do miss her stories.. Love them why you have them.. Oh and my granny also did sewing.. To some that might seem a rough life, but not too my grandmother...Blessings to all.
Such a precious story about the love of her life. Thank you Tipper for sharing. My husband and I, his name is Jerry also, have been married 53 years. It seems like it’s flown by. Only the Lord know the number of our days. He still works very hard. Thank you again for sharing this beautiful love story.❤️
What a lovely love story. I have one too. The first time I saw my husband I knew he was the one. He had just walked into the building and was still far away. Later he asked me to dance and I said yes! I never danced with strangers! What was I doing?! My whole table of friends were in shock. I was too. He was in the military so we went out the next night. The next day he deployed for 12 months. We wrote letters to each other every day. This was before computers, cell phones etc. When he came home on leave he asked me to marry him. He deployed again. This time for 9 months. When he returned home we were married. Thankfully this time he was stationed in the USA. I got to spend a year with him. We’ll be married 37 years this year if it’s the Lord’s will. I really wanted to hit one of the big milestones like 50,60 or even 70. That won’t happen because I have a terminal illness that can’t be treated because I’m allergic to the medications. I’m just appreciative of every moment with my precious husband. He is my caregiver as well as my husband and friend. I’m in a wheelchair and unable to do anything for myself so he has to do it all. I know God brought us together. I had prayed for Him to choose my husband, if He wanted me to have one. I also prayed that I’d know him when I saw him. I still think my husband is the best looking man for me!

I don't know how I came across this, but how precious of a story. Reminds me of some of my grandmother's and mom's accounts of falling in love and life-long marriages, walking with the Lord in His tender mercy.
What a cool love story and it hits close to home as my wife and I are from Lenoir, just up the road from Gastonia.
I cried listening to this. Thank you for preserving your heritage and sharing it with us. I'm Southern but only had little experience in true Appalachia and y'all are the nicest people we've got in the States. God bless your entire family
So sweet, makes me smile to hear her story. Not many people can stay in love for 52 years, and still be in love after one has passed. 💒
You are so blessed, to live in gods nature, and having your mother telling this story is so sweet... thank you for sharing.
I now know where you get your love for family and Appalachia! God did send Granny, Pap. Such a blessing; it made me cry. I watched it three times. I know you lost a piece of your heart, also, the day he passed. Thank you for sharing their life, yours and others. It means a lot.

What a beautiful love story and what a testimony of God's great love.
That is so wonderful! My parents met when she was waiting tables. She had worked in woodworking factory while men were in WWII. My dad who had just come back from Guam where he had been stationed with The Fighting CeeBees US Navy. As she was taking his order, he asked her out for dinner & a movie. Thinking he probably forgot, she stood at the bus stop to take bus home. Suddenly he was standing right behind her & asked if she was ready to go out for the evening! They, like granny & Papp, dated for three months & got married! They were married for 51 yrs when The Lord called daddy home! That was the hardest time of my life as he was my hero! It was easier losing mom for two reasons-she had Alzheimer’s & the fact she was without dad! It only seemed right they were once again together❤️ When dad came back from the war, he went back to his place of employment which happened to be the woodworking factory that mom had worked in during the war! Dad worked there 48 yrs until his heart attacked him.

I feel you. I’ve lost 14 immediate family members in the last 34 years. That averages one every 2.4 years. There’s not time enough to grief one death before there’s another. Our deaths usually come in clusters of two or three, meaning they come within a few days or weeks

What a sweet story!
What kind of hold do those mountains have on folks? My Daddy told me about going with his Dad to do a big plastering job west of Tyler Mt on WV where we lived. Even though he was with his own dad & a few relatives he became so homesick they had to send him back. He loved his oldest sister & mother so much he went to see them every day even when he was married. No one could cook like them, make biscuits like them or make preserves like them. He always came back to us with a few fried pies. Great memories.

Thanks again for sharing these memories with us - it sort of makes me feel like we're neighbors, even if only internet neighbors.
Love this ...precious...God bless....prayers always ...❤🙏
I really do like pap's name. Granny's story of chance, reminded me of my wife Patricia. I met her in a bar, with her lifelong friend. I asked for her phone number, she gave me the wrong number. Her friend said give him a chance, and wrote her correct number. 27 years later and 2 daughters. I don't believe we have been apart except her mother's family reunion for 4 days. I feel the same way about my wife that granny does about her wonderful husband of 52 years. Blessed by god granny has lived the blessings god gave her. All those days of love, and being able to look back at a life lived with her husband. God bless you and your family.
