reminds me of that part in jan Misali's "hangman is a weird game" where the executioner *could* edit the word and absurdle but here there's an opponent instead of a bot with the guesser's worst interests at heart

neither of those can contradict the previous guesses though, they can only make the current guess as useless as possible

Can you edit your word to your opponent's last guess ? That could trip them up i imagine (in your exemple you'd change frown to flown). Also this game mode sounds really fun

Yeah, you can do that! I think I remember a player trying it in our tournament, but it's a risky move because if the opponent just guesses the same thing twice, they win

Hey cary, if you can it is best to delay returning until sept. 6th, as otherwise you will be leaving before the backup launch dates, and there is a decent probability of a scrub. Backup dates are on Sept. 2nd and Sept. 5th.

Thanks for letting me know! Yeah, I remember nasa saying that launches are always prone to rescheduling, so maybe it would be smart for me to stay an extra week or so

Honestly we don't need animation, your content is always top notch (but i understand wanting to put out videos with a certain level of production)

I learned about the existence of the Artemis missions yesterday... not because Artemis I is soon. Actually, it's because I was researching a flower species with the name "ambrosia artemisiifolia" and thought that someone might've named it after something called "Artemis II."

In your explanation, you say you can't know how many edits the opponent uses, but it's extremely obvious if you just look at their number of stockpiled edits.

I was completely unaware of that Artemis 1 mission you mentioned at the end. It seems interesting, so how lucky that you're relevant to it! I'll be looking forward to hearing about it.

During watching the 1v1, I thought of how the game would've ended up if, after changing "FRUMP" to "CRUMP", on the very next guess, you immediately change it back to "FRUMP" again. If your opponent doesn't give too much thought to a used edit that didn't seem to do anything, they might end up spending a lot of guesses trying to figure out the first letter without using "F" again since that letter used to be correct but was edited to not be correct anymore. It's almost like a "so bad it's good" kind of move where you wouldn't think to have any incentive to use an edit just to revert your previous edit, but then if your opponent ALSO assumes that, it's actually a GOOD move to make because you don't WANT your opponent to be thinking what you're thinking... the potential for mindgames is interesting here, the game changes a lot depending on who your opponent is.

"slave" has the most neighbors lmao then goes "share" and then "state" I find this coincidence ironically and fun af 13:31, 2-letter change neighbors

Does editing the word reset whether a green tile is "new"? For example, if the word I'm guessing is "blank" and I guess "blown" (earning an edit), the word gets changed to "shank" and I guess "ships", would I gain another edit or not?

Good question! I can't remember the exact details, but I think I coded it so that it tracks the "record" for how many green tiles you've had, and you need to exceed the record by 2. So, suppose your guesses have had 0, 2, 1, and 3 greens, you only gain an edit for the 2nd word because it's the only one that broke the record by 2 greens.

It seems more effective to change more words at the same time, because by changing only one letter that the opponent already had green, there are still a limited amount of words you could have, since both your current word _and_ your old word must be words.

I've been thinking about what the best words to put down on this game are. At the end you talk about which words are the best at stumping your opponent, because stumping your opponent should give you more Edits to continue guessing their word. I started thinking about what words are the best to use your Edits on. Ideally you want to use 1 edit at a time and you want that edit to be as impactful as possible. In that sense, "FRUMP", the 3rd word you chose on the last game, was terrible. It only has 4 neighbors (words that you can reach using 1 Edit): Crump Grump Trump

Bad TWOW Idea. Ten Wordles of Wisdom: you get a prompt and you have 10 words all with 5 letters and so do the others (don't forget to answer lmao). You get a person's wordle and if you guess it the other's response will go down but if you cannot, the opponent goes higher! It's about choosing correct wording to a sentence. If it's too hard, the host can let 3 or 2 less than 5 letters slip in like "Hello, sorry I share along. Leave me alone, thank you." (Prompt for disapproving someone fo asking you to keep everything for you) Don't forget, it's bad.
