Woody Allen defends himself on 60 Minutes in '92

In 1992, Woody Allen gave a no-holds-barred interview to Steve Kroft to defend himself against accusations by Mia Farrow that Allen molested their then-7-year-old daughter Dylan Farrow.

I think in a movie you could envision a circumstance where a rich, famous husband and an adopted daughter fell in love. However, in real life if they were introduced and had a father daughter relationship before she was 18 there’s no excuse for the husband to pursue that as a romantic relationship. It’s just a bridge too far even for a liberal, open minded person. So if Woody’s fatherly role existed while she was 13 etc then this is wrong. Granted Mia fabricating child molestation if that is the case is also wrong. He just seems almost amoral in his countenance regarding this. Surely there should be some guilt at causing this pain.

But him for 30 years now he’s been parading Soon Yi around in our faces like “as long as Im not guilty of assaulting my younger daughter then this is aight.” Idk if I was being falsely accused of pedophilia, I would prolly align myself to an image that would make pedophilia the last thing you thought about when you saw, heard or thought of me. That’s all the info I need. I’m not saying he did the other action or that Mia Farrow isn’t crazy or that he deserves to be called a pedophile who should be in prison forever or that he doesn’t have the right to defense himself. Just sayin a lot of people enabled him to make an insane amount of money while accumulating a lot of power that is still prevalent today whenever he’s praised for being some kind of genius when the content of his character doesn’t reflect how highly people speak of him.

I used to think Mia Farrow was this Angel, I was fooled for so long, like so many people were. That is until I learned of how she devastated Dory Previn, Andre Previn’s longtime wife. Farrow went after Previn with cold calculation, pretended to be Dory Previn’s best friend, brought Dory and Andre Previn gifts, came to their home for dinner, commented on how pretty their BED was, & eventually cheated with Previn, a married man. In short order, Farrow got Previn to leave his wife for her. Dory Previn was devastated and was absolutely dumped by both Previn and Farrow. She wound up having a nervous breakdown from the heartache and ended up in a mental hospital. When years later, Allen was then accused of being a pervert, Dory Previn called Allen to warn him about Farrow. She told him to be careful, that Farrow was cruel, vindictive and callous. Farrow was the typical woman scorned. She wasn’t used to being cheated on. She was used to being the cheater, and being dumped for her much younger adopted daughter put her in a rage. Of course it was not the best choice to have an affair with Farrow’s much younger adopted daughter, but that brings up another issue, and that was how Farrow treated her Asian adopted children like servants, and even physically abused them, but treated her son Ronan, who many believe is Frank Sinatra’s son, like he was a precious prince. I have no sympathy for Farrow. She played the Other Woman role and devastated Dory Previn’s life, and then she got a taste of her own medicine many years later. Sounds fair to me.

Dylan’s claim of abuse was consistent with the testimony of three adults who were present that day. On the day of the alleged assault, a babysitter of a friend told police and gave sworn testimony that Allen and Dylan went missing for 15 or 20 minutes, while she was at the house. Another babysitter told police and also swore in court that on that same day, she saw Allen with his head on Dylan’s lap facing her body, while Dylan sat on a couch “staring vacantly in the direction of a television set.” A French tutor for the family told police and testified that that day she found Dylan was not wearing underpants under her sundress. The first babysitter also testified she did not tell Farrow that Allen and Dylan had gone missing until after Dylan made her statements. These sworn accounts contradict Moses Farrow’s recollection of that day in People magazine.

One person said they went missing, another person said she saw Allen's head in Dylans lap - is this the missing 15 minutes? What is "missing"? One person doesn't see them and calls it "missing"? Surely the house had a few floors. WHat French tutor discovered Dylan wearing no underwear? How did the tutor know this- did the tutor take her to the toilet? To many grownups in that house around a small kid if you ask me. Dylan was seven, and lived exclusively with Mia Farrow who HATE Allen. Farrow was a few months into a very bitter divorce and hated Allen so much she brainwashed the kids against him. Seven years old girl groomed by the mother. Nobody know what he did to his daughter. perhaps he was simply playing with her. He already had his girlfriend/wife. He certainly didn't need more slander given the divorce proceedings.

When my young cousin was 5-7 years old, we used to have someone make noise outside on Christmas Eve, and then run out with the cousin for a glimpse of seeing Santa flying away from the rooftop. Nobody was actually there, but we all acted like we'd seen it; my cousin eventually started "remembering" that he had seen Santa too. My cousin is now in his thirties, and to this day he still has his implanted memories of having seen Santa on the roof.

Thats why its taken so long to finally have Cosby and Weinstein in jail-cause at one time the culture was about protecting or always believing those in power. There were children molested by family members for years and shamed and silenced or THEY had to be “sent away” and never heard of again instead of acting being taken on the one doing the attacking. Our western, enlightened civilization has found some sort of solution for the 'I don't know" situations on people who might have broken the law. It is called 'due process' and it is based on the principle 'innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law'. I am attached to this system and its foundations. We can't go on publicly declaring a person guilty of a heinous crime, and we can't allow society to 'punish' people for crimes for which they have not been found guilty. It is uncivilized. A 'belief' is more than just some sort of frivolous opinion. Not all 'beliefs' are equally valuable. What if I used the 'free press' tomorrow to allege your father, brother, or son of having sexually abused one or more children? I am sure you would not qualify that as 'just a belief'. And you would not accept it if the proper authorities would respond with "We don't know".

Angel - Thorough police investigation yielded zero evidence. Predators have a pattern of behavior. One time molester doesn't ever happen. Yes, strange to marry Soon Yee - 25 years later they are still married . Allen is not as neurotic as you think. If he was - he would not be as productive as a writer and director as he has been.

I'd suggest that someone who's after pre-teen children wouldn't say 'ok, if not that I could have at least young women'. These are two different things. Many older men prefer young women. Some people may not like that but it doesn't make being a child molester more likely.

In his 33-page decision, Judge Wilk found that Mr. Allen’s behavior toward Dylan was “grossly inappropriate and that measures must be taken to protect her.” The judge also recounts Farrow’s misgivings regarding Allen’s behavior toward Dylan from the time she was between two and three years old. According to the judge’s decision, Farrow told Allen, “You look at her [Dylan] in a sexual way. You fondled her . . . You don’t give her any breathing room. You look at her when she’s naked.”

He did not say NO when asked if he’d molested his daughter. And, not moments before saying they’re all “hostile toward me”, said he did his usual thing where he played with the kids and read them stories and had a wonderful time! Also this creep assigns himself young - ridiculously young costars and has for years! I wish Kroft had asked about that!! No one ever asks about that! And has the bleccckkk to hook up with his partner’s young daughter but he’s no child molester!? Notice his discomfort when Kroft mentions the nude pictures of he daughter which is how he was caught. He’s sick.
