In this woodworking project watch as I build a woodworking shop organizer that has really made the time in my workshop more enjoyable. Clearly it was finally time to organize the chaos of my sand paper drawer. Check out how I used the wasted space under my drum sander and turned it into a compact and efficient drawer made to organize my stacks of messy sandpaper. I hope you enjoy this woodworking project!

Excellent use of space. But.......I don't know how much dust that sander kicks out. So perhaps the draw front could have gone under the top piece? Prevent the saw dust collecting in the draws. Still fantastic build and thank the lord for the table saw. Ha. Thanks for sharing

Beautiful work (as always)! I have a file cabinet that I have a bunch of folders that will now be useful for holding sandpaper! Was not quite the same project...but my sandpaper is still in the boxes they come in and are sometimes covering other boxes and tools... This may be a better place for storage as well as using available space. 😇😎

This would have been perfect if you had narrated it during. I’m new to woodworking and I learned a lot, but I feel I’d have learned more had u narrated it. There are a few things I’m not sure what u did. Like iron something on the edges? What were u ironing on and what was it’s purpose? Tings like that, but overall, great little video, but a lot of people watching are new, people that aren’t new probably already know how to do this stuff. Hit my opinion, but it’s free so thank you for your time!

Hi Nate, the stuff he ironed on to the edges is called "edge banding". It's used to cover the edges of plywood, etc, and many brands of it have a backing that melts and adheres it when it gets hot - called "iron on". Its not necessary by any means, but makes projects look nicer.

Hi Jon, great project thank you! Why pre-cat finish? Does it outperform, or is it more user friendly than oil based polyeurathane, and would you recommend on furniture as well as millwork/kitchen cabinetry? Thanks

  • @JonPetersArtHome

Thanks, I like it plywood cabinets it dries fast and is a nice hard finish. If I were to use it on a darker wood I would first use shellac to help bring out the grain.

Not a good idea in my opinion. Store the sand paper vertically will curve the paper after some time. It is better to lay the paper flat and seal them with air tight seal document pockets. Moisture will not get inside. Maybe in your country, moisture is not an issue as mine.

The only reason I disliked your comment is because it sounded like criticism. I realized your input is actually helpful but at the moment I posted my comment I was a bit upset that some people had “dislike” the video (not you) just saw the thumbs down and stuff. I was jut being sassy and tried to defend Jon of some sort. Silly really.
