This looks incredible, but I'm wondering if it would be possible to first saw off some of that wood to leave usable offcuts instead of just turning everything that's not the end product into chips 🤔

I've seen that done with large wooden bowls, where they use a curved tool that cuts out the inside, then use the cutout for a second bowl. Hard to imagine how this could be done with this huge piece of expensive looking wood, but it does seem like a lot of waste. I guess the explanation is "not feasible "

That turned out beautiful! But the only thing I could think of watching this video was the lovely red and white non dyed weed free mulch that would be a blessing in my garden beds!

Is not "beautiful", I don't understand how you can cut down a tree to make a vase as huge as it is useless and to put corpses of flowers in it, it's stupid and a worrying symptom of our civilization infected by its consumerism. It's not art because it's reproduced in huge numbers.

Redwood is redwood. The more famous redwood is probably the Sequoia of California, but there is also another, smaller species of redwood in California and Oregon.

Top class artist/craftsmanship. No fancy tools, just talented people using the their brains. The brain is a powerful tool and most people hardly use theirs. I'll bet his forefathers made these wood items way back before power tools were readily available. I'd love to see a video (pictures) from that era. Love these type of clips from REAL talented people. Lovely wood and the grain is tremendous, what tree is this from? Isn't KZread a great thing? It brings all these magnificent people into our lives. Isn't it a shame we don't all get along better, work together for the good of all mankind. Probably easier to do that than to be aggressive to one another. Well done guys, take care and have fun. @@renatocanetti4469 Way too dense to be redwood. Pretty sure it is padauk - which also is native to where is guess to turner is from.

@@renatocanetti4469 I hope not, that is an endangered species. I dont think it is Padauk either as that is African and the turner here looks most likely Vietnamese (also a PG Bank calendar on the wall which is a Vietnamese bank). Likely Vietnamese Mahogany or possibly Vietnamese Redwood (Dalbergia tonkinensis also endangered and sales of it are illegal).
