Woodturning - The Wood Shavings Hollow Form
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Woodturning - In this video I do what many have wanted to see. I combine wood shavings from my recent roughing out video and combine it with Designer Epoxy and some spalted maple to make a really cool looking hollow form. Along with that I also have a major announcement from Designer Epoxy, thanks for watching!

Looking at it without the light doesn't do it justice. Now, with the light OMG, it is so beautiful. Once again, you've shown us what can be done with not only wood shavings but things found in the backyard. Love it!!!

Interesting, there pretty safety conscience here. Thanks for watching!
When you said something was missing, then brought out the spalted maple, oh, you were so right! It makes the whole piece pop: light with dark figuring, against dark with light. Great choice! I'm not surprised it sold so quickly.

Dang…right when I went to message you about buying it, you mentioned that it was sold. I love this new medium, there’s so much more you can do playing around with wood types and colored tents. I’m sure I’m not alone in hoping that we see this done again soon. This chanel has become one of the highlights to my Friday.

That was so pretty. Love it but oh my the cost! Designer epoxy. Thank you for discount at designer epoxy.
I think you're right, Jim. It's the combo of Designer Epoxy, pressure pot and time that made it clean with no air bubbles. A super cool and interesting piece! I'd love to see another one with maybe a lighter shade of pigment, or maybe even clear, so that the wood shavings speak for themselves.

What a great idea to use the wood shavings. If you do another one, maybe don't tint the apoxy so the wood colors are more defined. The maple collar really is a great finishing touch.

I was thinking the same thing... like a clear epoxy.... and maybe do the rice trick to get the hallow before the turn that way you won't use so much ( but then again you get that bag stuck in the epoxy too. 🤔) I think this is really beautiful. It gives me sort of wood suspended in water feel.
Honestly I cant get my brain around how much I actually love this piece. The designer epoxy definitely makes a big difference, but the amount of forethought you put into keeping the shavings clean was a big factor. Incredible stuff, thanks Jim

I like the 3D effect of this hollow form. At first I was not sure about the colour, if I was to be honest, but it’s growing on me that’s for sure. I think is goes really good with the colour of the wood chips. I do like it best when it’s well lit from the top. It shows the 3D of the piece best, and it looks like calm water and the farther away the shaving is the darker it gets. It’s pretty cool when you see it with the best lighting. Designer Epoxy

I like it better than I thought I would, the form is classical and flows nicely. I like how you continued the upward tilt on into the collar, then flared outward--and the figured wood is beautiful! So cool! The spalted maple complements the resin-and-shavings beautifully, I think because the spalting kind of makes similarly shaped marks in the wood to what the shavings show in the resin.
