Woodturning - Stack of Strips

Welcome to today's woodturning project! In this video I'm turning a lidded box out of this strips (flooring wood). The project went well, except the resin, that had some cracks (I don't know why).

WELL damn... Looks like I need me a Lathe, A table saw, a Band saw, Some chisels, and about 200 gallons of resin.. Love your work.. I am going to get back into working with a lathe Thank you
Well I officially finished watching ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS today I'm so glad you don't add music to them anymore
Of all the wood turners i have seen on youtube, you are the first I have seen use a saw to cut the corners of a square blank to make it easier to turn (also much less wear on your body, on the lathe, and on the turning tools) I'm glad someone finally figured this out.

I have seen a few others do it and don't understand why more don't. The amount of time it would save would be worth the extra step. I also don't know why more turners don't rough a piece to shape before casting it in resin. Why pour a bunch of expensive epoxy you are just going to turn away?

@@leospitz6541 exactly, if you are doing it more as a hobby, anything to save money is good. and, those cut off scraps can be used for future projects

Great lidded box. A lot of wasted resin though.

Blue? I can only imagine how it would look with clear. The lumpy parts of the pattern would be less noticeable.

I’m very impressed with the artisan’s skills. Not so impressed with the finished piece. He has done much better
Am I the only one that thinks this design/pattern does not lend itself well to lathe turning?

I am with you as well, I think it’s the way the resin being very thin and blue to where it creates an ugly color banding. I believe that it would look much better clear.
