Woodturning - Spalted Sycamore Surprise
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This was a lump of Sycamore from the firewood pile. Finished with acrylic varnish, and it still needs more coats but I ran out of time!

Spectacular turning, Martin. I’m constantly amazed at the delicate cuts you can make. Perfect! If I may ask, what was the finishing spray it on there. It is absolutely beautiful! 👍👍👍😃😃😃🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Happy turning, .....Gord

It's acrylic varnish Gord. I find oil based finishes turn sycamore very yellow. although the acrylic can be problematic in these cold conditions! 😊

@@MartinWoodhead Thanks Martin, one is on its way.
Pardon me, but what was the surprise? I must have missed it.
Very, very lovely! What causes the wood to be spalted?
@MartinWoodhead
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, spalting is the result of fungus starting to break down the structure of the wood. 😊
Very nice! You had to be careful turning that one. That would be like sticking your hand under the lawnmower.

it looks like a cone or a funnel..
your centers are way off.. it's like you didn't even try to center that piece of wood..
