I was also thinking about the push cut. It’s rare to see a video with only push cut being used. At one point I thought that also only one tool used, but then some more were used in the end. Nice handles! Was that big one a Sorby gouge? I have one similar looking, but as a beginner can’t tell if the steel is any better. Your opinion? Finally thanks for the video. It was easy to subscribe. Going to check more of your productions.

very good bowl results, what size lathe chuck do you use?
@MartinWoodhead
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ari, the chuck is a Axminster evolution SK114 which measures 114mm. The jaws I use have a gripping range: Internal 101mm to 117mm : External 118mm to 134mm. Thanks for watching! 😊

The bowl is beautiful. I've just finished a couple of elm salad bowls and finished them in Mahoney's walnut oil. I see you lacquer sprayed yours. What use do you see the bowl being destined for.

Hi Martin. I'm intrigued by your work. The lathe you used for this piece looks really practical, sliding the headstock to the end of the bed to ease back stress! What lathe is it?

Great job. I missed how you removed the residual red substrate you painted on. Can you elaborate?

Yes the reed was a water wash, and the residue easily rubbed off. Thanks for watching! 😊

@@MartinWoodhead Hi, what is the red liquid you put on piece consist of?
@MartinWoodhead
3 жыл бұрын
@@jcpreacha It's a powdered dye mixed with water. I can't be any more specific, it's just something I have, not sure where it came from!
Beautiful work Martin! May I ask what finish you used for this piece?
