Woodturning - Mind Blowing Results With Scrap Plywood

Welcome to this weeks woodturning video.
Woodturning - Mind Blowing Results With Scrap Plywood
In this woodworking video I use a woodturning lathe to turn a blank made with segmented plywood into a platter.
When woodturning a piece like I find it important to nibble away at it until I see what shape the wood wants to be, this is what is so enjoyable about woodturning.
If you find these videos entertaining I’d appreciate you like, share and subscribe.
Thanks for watching.

@@RevdUp.Art.Fotografer I see. I feel most beginners wouldn’t fully understand the difference between thinking outside the box creatively and sticking within safe working practices. Thanks guys. Gloves is the one that scares me. Although rings and watches are also a bit crazy. The thing about KZread is anyone can record them selves and upload. I see a lot of clearly novice turners on here essentially documenting their learning process.. but they don’t seem to tell others they still don’t know what they are doing. So a novice watches them and thinks that’s the right way and so on until we have nothing but muddy waters. It’s a real shame and makes the journey into woodturning a lot harder for those using KZread as a resource.

He’s using proper quality (very expensive) birch ply, so the voids are pretty minimal. I’ve got pieces of that, but also pieces of the worst quality stuff you can get, which is so full of voids and filler, and the outside ply layer so thin, you wonder how it stays together at all, plus the inner plys are really uneven and wobbly-looking. That would definitely not look nice as a bowl 😁.

You asked me what I would use it for? I can think of several uses. 1. Before you cut it into a circle, it would have made a one of a kind cutting board. All you’d have to do was trim it a little. 2. It could be used as a platter to serve bread on. 3. It would make a beautiful fruit bowl. That’s just a few for a start. Let me know what you ended up using it for. I love your videos. Again, thanks for sharing. Jim
