Woodturning - Do NOT waste expensive wood
Ойын-сауық
In this hybrid woodturning video, I will recycle some rather expensive Australian mallee burl off cuts pieces to create a large hybrid epoxy resin wooden bowl using my Axminster trade lathe. When I cut down bigger burls for my projects, I keep the off cuts for projects like this. Sanded to 3000 grit then several layers of clear gloss lacquer was applied to achieve high glos premium finish.

Absolutely stunning piece. On a side note I watch woodturning with my seven year old daughter...near the end of this video she said "is this David?" I said yes and she said "oh good we get to see him put the little metal badge in" ❤
Beautiful. Love how the blue sets off the wood. 😀

I knew I was going to like it when you mixed up the blue resin! That is a bowl I would buy! Set it on a platter with a bright LED light underneath it!!!
Now you're just showing off! Kidding. Everytime you amaze me with your creations. You should have a note with your videos, of long each piece takes. Kudos sir!!
That is a beautiful bowl.... I love watching your videos 😍😍 thank you 😊

Usually I'm not a big fan of the resin bowls but this one is quite nice.👍👌
Beautiful bowl....wow.
David you are a masterwoodturner and a mastercrafter, I like the fact that you used cut offs and the blue resin they look really nice together. The bowl is magnificent and unique well done you always amaze me with your work. Cant wait for another video the finish on the bowl really makes it shine. Take care and have a Merry Christmas Amanda xx
Stunning!!
Another beautiful project, I love the blue
I love the bowl
Love this piece!
Beautiful work
Fantastic Bowl.
Beautiful piece
Very nice a great design and use of small pieces of wood to creat a very great design
niezwykły pomysł, gratuluję!
Woodturning is 99% turning good wood into tiny chips. It is by necessity wasting wood. I will give you points on using the inner bowl to reduce the loss, though. I have seen too many youtubers fill a flat bottom bucket with material, then shave away the outside and inside. Looks great!

367th like and that is a lovely bowl. So interesting, not least because I use glue blocks, Vista resin and DeWalt drills and drivers. And I’ve got bags and boxes full of offcuts 🌞

@@DavidsWoodturning … You’re welcome 😊!
Nice project! What finish did you use on this bowl?
Wow
Beautiful bowl started from a great idea. Two questions: 1 how did you cure the epoxy (vacuum, pressure, natural) 2 how do you keep bubbles out. I looked like there were bubbles in the resin.
@DavidsWoodturning

Thank you 🙂 It cures under pressure. Rarely any bubbles
Next show us what you do with the scraps from saving the scraps. 😁
