Woodturning Cherry and ash Christmas Ornament
“Many of the woods I use are from trees that have been cut down due to disease or to make way for construction. This is wood that would otherwise be burned or end up in a landfill.
To me, it is exciting to find the hidden beauty in a chunk of wood. Even a very plain piece of wood offers design opportunities. When working with plain wood, I often enhance the wood by carving or burning. My carved and burned designs mimic textures and patterns found in nature.

Thanks Mike! Christmas Time is the perfect time for making these small projects! The fact that they're all (or mostly), made from recovered wood, just makes them even more special!
Le travail est fait avec délicatesse et sans précipitation ce qui nous laisse le temps d'apprécier le travail effectué sur ces jolis bois . On trouve beaucoup de soins apportés aux détails et j'adore ...👍👍👍

Another lovely piece of work Heather. Elegant and handsome and it will last for a hundred years or more - an inspiration all round. Thanks as always.

Thank you Mark! What a thought! I love to think they would be around for 100 years!
Beautiful, I love the contrast between the cherry and ash ... nice to see you recovering from something going wrong, it just goes to show that it isn't always a disaster, merely a slight evolution of what you were working at 👍

Thanks for watching!
I really like this ornament. Have you ever tried turning the drop finial in the other direction, small end at the tail stock? I think you’ll find that it’s much easier than having the heavier, base end toward the tail stock. But your design is great. Keep after it!

Thanks Doug! I know! Lol I should have turned it the other way around, but I wanted to make sure it fit into the recess on the cherry piece. I'm going to turn the second piece tomorrow and do it the other way around.
Looks like a professional made it!!!😊 What type of ca glue do you use thin medium or thick, and what brand also.

I usually use thin CA called CEP. It's just a cheep brand. I haven't found a difference in any of the other CA glue that I've used
