WOODSEATS SHEFFIELD - A walk through the centre of Woodseats in Sheffield England (filmed in 4K)

WOODSEATS SHEFFIELD - A walk through the centre of Woodseats in Sheffield England (filmed in 4K) In this Sheffield Video we take a walk down Chesterfield Road in Woodseats, S8.
It would really help my channel if you could give the video a thumbs up, and subscribe to the Sheffield Videos KZread Page here 👉 bit.ly/sheffieldvideos
We begin this Sheffield Tour video on Chesterfield Road at the junction of Abbey Lane, where we see Gents Division, The Dog House, and Papa John's Pizza Shop.
Crossing over Abbey Lane we continue along Chesterfield Road and pass The Abbey Pub which is currently closed due to the current restrictions.
Further down Chesterfield Road we see Formula One Autocentre and Woodseats Medical Centre and Woodseats Library.
Past Costa and KFC we come to Marco's Italian Restaurant which says 'closed Monday' on the sign.
Then we come to The Big Tree Pub and pub garden which is currently also still closed.
Next up we come to Kashmiri Aroma Restaurant (one of my favourites!) which is situated underneath VOICE telemarketing Call Centre.
As we travel along Woodseats we come to the busiest shopping area although not right now as most businesses are still not open yet.
Some of the other notable places we see in this section of this Sheffield walk are Bere's Pork Shop, Woodseats Post Office, Woodseats Fisheries, Viraaj Indian Restaurant, The Chantrey Arms Pub, and Zizzona Pizza Shop (smelt delicious!)
Further down we come to Da Vinci Italian Restaurant and Dos Amigos which says it's an Italian / Mexican Restaurant.
Past Dominos Pizza we pass Pyramid Carpets, Woodseats Police Station and the Woodseats Palace Pub.
Yorkshire Bank is further up the road, along with Woodseats Nursery and Primary School.
Towards the end of this Woodseats walk video we see Farmfoods supermarket, and Double Six Youth Club.
Some of the streets seen in this video:
Chesterfield Road
Abbey Lane
Bromwich Road
Cobnar Road
Holmhirst Road
Haughton Road
Helmton Road
Olivet Road
Chantrey Road
The Dale
Newlyn Road
Nettleham Road

Scarsdale Road
Woodseats is a district of Sheffield, South Yorkshire in the Graves Park ward. Historically, Norton Woodseats (grid reference SK347833) was a village that straddled Derbyshire Lane running from Four Lane Ends to Bolehill (now part of Graves Park), originally in Derbyshire but since 1901, part of the City of Sheffield.
The name Woodseats comes from the Old English Wodesettes, which means a 'fold in a wood'. Nether Woodseats itself was little more than a cluster of cottages around a road called 'The Dale' close to the intersection of Woodseats Road and Chesterfield Road (A61) and Upper Woodseats, near the Abbey Lane and Chesterfield Road junction.
This is my first walk through Woodseats in years and I don't know that much about it so any comments or information would be really welcome in the comments section below 👇

When I lived in the Abbeydale area 70 years ago I used to take tram rides to Woodseats, walks in Abbey Lane and the golf course area where an old church was. Do not remember much. It is very different. Trams gone and buses painted in funny colours. Would love to live in the Woodseats area though, and have walks in Graves Park. Thanks for the video.

The Italian/Mexican restaurant at the top of The Dale used to be a barbers and a cobblers shop. I remember the barber was called Horace, he used to work alone although he had 2 chairs in the shop. Mum used to send us up to him after school, having already paid Horace in the morning for our haircuts. We used to ask for the style we wanted, but we always got a short back and sides or scrape as we called it. We didn't find out until years later that mum had already told him the style she wanted, Horace never let on to us but used to apologise and say he'd accidentally taken too much off!!. Also remember Ralph Round the newsagents, he was opposite the bottom of Chantrey Road, He used to have a 6d (in old money) box with kids toys. There was always a huge debate in Woodseats about the best Fish and chip shop, The one opposite the Big Tree or Fergusons, which is Woodseats Fisheries now. Enjoyed watching the film, thankyou.

I used to live at Norton Lees but moved away at the age of 12 in 1961. I used to walk down to the library with my Dad but it was in a different building from now. However I recognised the entrance to Graves Park, the bottom of Cobnar Road - often walked down there, it was steep. Recognised bottom of Haughton Road and Chantry Road and I think you ended at Scarsdale Road. I think I saw the film The Carousel at Woodseats Palace Lovely walk down memory lane but it has changed a lot since my days there. Thank you so much for filming it. I used to walk to the top of Derbyshire Lane and through Graves Park to my secondary school Jordanthorpe which is no longer there. I loved Graves Park and Meersbrook Park, especially the trees. Sheffield is known for its trees. I live in Rochdale now and there are not enough trees here. I have recently watched your video from Crookes to Hillsborough and recognised a lot of that as my sister lives at Wadsley. We go over there now and then and we used to travel through Crookes on our way through Derbyshire to visit an older sister who is no longer with us. @@bbsniper9052 Yes, as it happens I was driving down from Abbey Lane towards Woodseats Road just after it happened. The police had closed Chesterfield Road and there was a car on its roof in front of Chantrey pub. There was also a small red car that had been hit in the crash. I believe the red car was one of the delivery guys who work for the Zizzona pizza place opposite the Chantrey Pub. According to those who run Chantrey pub and were upstairs when the car crashed and overturned into the pubs front windows, the driver of the overturned car was driving at excessive speed. There were apparently witnesses who filmed the aftermath on their mobiles. All the traffic was made to either do a U turn or go up other streets to get past the incident.

The idiot driver obviously had to crawl out from the written off overturned vehicle and was on the pavement outside the pub. Obviously the police station is only a couple of hundred yards away, so they were there quick. Mick & Tom raced out from the pub as they were both upstairs above the closed pub when it happened.

I thought rounds was where The Dale meets Chesterfield Rd. My nan used to buy me to Matchbox cars from there. Farm Foods was Cordon Bleu and Liptons prior to that. Spinks the baker and the COOP used to be either side of Broxholme Rd. Virgin Money was the Yorkshire Bank and H2O was indeed Tesco. I remember the Wetherspoons being the indoor market. Not old enough to know it as the picture house. I think Dos AMigos was a painting and decorating centre and El Greco an Art shop. I remember Horace Boldocks shop always having fish laid out and rabbits and game birds hanging in the shop. Hunters estate agents was the Halifax Building Society. It stood at the entry down to Gleesons. Woodseats Kebab was a KFC and the shop next door, Me Mini Market was 1 of 3 shops owned by Sammy Salvin.(2x fruit veg & 1x flower shop). Fergussons Chippy(Fergie's) is where I had 3 fishcakes every Saturday lunch time. Just after Fergies was a newsagents where I bought comics. Blundells was another Sammy Salvins shops. The 3rd shop (florists) was over the road opposite the Big Tree. I think S8 Barbers was GT News. The library was a one story building that was set back from the road. - I have many memories of Woodseats. Nan and Grandad lived on Scarsdale and I spent most weekends and school holidays there.

Not been in Sheffield for 30 plus years what a massive changed..... only shop I can see still there is WILLIAMS Electric shop.....No Cowen & Barretts (Plumbers Merchants) and used to be Marshalls Car sales room.... Sunair Travel Agents and Woodeats Camera Shop there was also a Sewing Machine shop sold sewing machines and knitting machines and wool,..... I saw Blundells are still there but bigger shop.... otherwise its a damn mess lots of new buildings what a shame. Sheffield has been destroyed by a council gone mad. Didnt the Baldwin bros also own a restaurant down there with VALETS parking your car for you? Posh place..... they also owned The Omega (David Baldwin) and his brother had CLIMAX in Dronfield. Horrid how its changed...... The Big Tree used to be very popular in Summer people sat out drinking 1970's it was always packed to the brim Friday night and Saturday night before us teens headed down town to night clubs..... Heart Beat, Penny Farthing etc.
