Wood Turning Segmented Ripple Bowl From A Board

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I will show how I make a bowl using very wavy and twisted segments. It gives kind of a ripple effect. A simple but very effective look. It could be left square and used as a serving board as well.
You will see how I cut the segments, glue them up and make a bowl from a board. I also show how you can do this without a fancy CNC machine. Future video on doing that coming soon.
This can be called a Bowl from a Board or Economy Bowl, Bandsaw Bowl

    Yep. Like it. If I were to do something similar, first thing would be to "sturdyfy" my 3018 router. Might be fun! Well done youngster! (I have 6 years on you!)

    Thank you Stuart. So I looked up the 3018 and it is a cnc router correct? I should sell one of my CNC mills and get a CNC router. I could get a much bigger cutting window. Youngster!!! I like the sound of that LOL Take care, Gary

    The 3018 is indeed a "SMALL" router. Wish I had the resources and room for something much more rugged.

    Thank you Tom and I find it the easiest way to get a nice shine and very smooth finish. I am not fond of the buffing wheel system and I feel this is much easier. A lot of finishes have been ruined using a buffing wheel as well. Take care, Gary

    Another great looking bowl Gary. I really like your homemade "ringmaster" contraption. Much better than having to cut the board in half to cut it on the bandsaw. And of course, you know I'm gonna love any video with some CNC action in it. 😀

  • @ThePapa1947

    @ThePapa1947

    Thanks so much Dave, I do make a lot of contraptions that save me $$$ but it is because I enjoy making them. I also made a bandsaw slicing fixture which saved me hundreds as well. The CNC comes in handy for these types of turnings but also for making all kinds of contraptions as well. And for sure I knew the CNC action would be well received by you. Take care, Gary
