I will probably end up loving it considering how much I love Chalamet but there is no shame in not feeling this new Wonka. Yes his fans can be on a good day "unhinged" but I am happy to hear your honest reaction.

No shame at all! If you were feeling this new Wonka from the trailer, than I think you’ll enjoy it! Thanks for watching and hope you do love it. 😊

I honestly appreciate your guys opinion on Timothee's take on the character. Personally I am one who thinks it isn't entirely his fault with how the character turned out it might also have to do with how they wrote the character if that makes sense.

Appreciate that! And I agree. Chalamet shouldn’t take the full brunt. The character on the page wasn’t entirely interesting, so he was likely just trying his best. Cheers!

Lol I don't think you have to worry about the 'Chalamet mob' coming after you, everyone thought he was miscast after watching the trailer. Nostalgia for Gene Wilder's Wonka trumps any Timmy bias IMO

He was not miscast.. Paul saw him in his HS presentation and chose him. He is outstanding in this movie.

The dark aspect of Wonka's character appears to be missing in this version. Roland Dahl's stories always had some darkness to them i.e. Matilda.

I genuinely think Chalamet fits the role perfectly. he has the crazy look in his eyes. he has all the jolly, mystical, and energetic traits 👌 also, Hugh Grant as the oompa loompa is a choice and I am lowkey here for it and I’m not disappointed 👏

When I first saw the trailer, I said Chalamet was miscast from the get go. No surprise at all.

I didn’t have high hopes after seeing the trailer. I went in open-minded though. I think the movie is slightly better than the trailer. But Chalamet is pretty much EXACTLY what you see.

Watch the movie (not the trailer) than give your opinion about his character..

Interestingly, film critics praised Chalamet's performance and wrote about his incredible charisma. Would the opinions differ that much? I am curious what opinion I will make when the film arrives in our cinemas.

Critics are people too, just like everyone else. And it's not just professional critics, in general it seems like most people liked it. But it's true that some people, especially those who haven't even seen the film, already have preconceived notions because they're fixated on the original film or Burton's version. I won't rely on the trailer (by the way, I don't understand what was embarrassing about it) and will make up my mind when I see the movie.

Wonka feels like a watch at home kind of movie. Saw Monster this weekend and really liked it, need a review to decompress the feelings.

I read Chalamet's version is supposed to be a 19 year old, wet behind the ears, green entrepreneur. The 45 year old cynical, misanthropic side Wilder portrayed obviously manifests after decades of encounters with the worst side of human nature. Hope it's a box office smash!😊

Very underwhelming and empty! It had some glimpses of the Paddington glory, but nothing more.
