It's a fine balance, but I feel like the most fun people are children at heart and adults in their mind. As in, they will play Mario Kart, watch cartoons and build a pillow fort with you, but if serious stuff happens, they have the adult capacity to deal with it. People look down on you for enjoying anything stereotypically "childish" aren't that fun, and these folks are the other extreme (I'm sure womenchildren are just as insufferable)

I knew a female engineer that was just like that. Every hobbie was time lost, and she was very vocal about it. She had a lot of energy and used it all in her work and her motherhood, but she overstrusted her abilities in an economy that crumbled very fast because she believed blindly in what she voted. She had to go to work farther for more time because that blind trust and lack of humility made her apply for a loan for a bigger house, even if she had one that was big enough. She used to be humble in things she didn't know, maybe that lesson got refreshed after that.

My friends ex would have his mum come over to clean his house twice a week. She has a full-time job and is mildly disabled. He also has a full-time job but had plenty of time to clean for himself, he lived alone, when my friend moved in she became "mummy" and was expected to clean the house alone, she also has a full-time job. Another thing is his mum would clean his ears for him. She would lick a Q-tip and stick it in his ear. Gross. Also, my ex would have his mum handle all of his finances for him and would give him a certain amount each week as an allowance. He was 27, another red flag from that relationship was that I was only 17 when we started dating

I'm going to play devils advocate here, but number 3 isn't a red flag at all, its actually very normal where I live. The whole 18 and then move out thing is a very American mentality, but realistically, you're still more or less a big teenager in your 20's. You are getting used to a first job, you finish college and transition to the workforce, you suddenly need to decide what you want in life etc. I have been living alone for a year, though occasionally my mum will stop by for a cup of tea or might help me with some cleaning when I'm out and busy, and I'm grateful for it. It doesn't mean I can't clean or function at all independently, it just means I have a sweet mother. Like the post said, they sometimes give me advice on clothes to get and sometimes offer to help find me things if I give them the money. I also make it a point to have dinner at my parents at least once a week so I can stay connected. Now if the guy was in his 30's or refused to do any of this home maintenance and relied on his parents exclusively, that would be a red flag; but this seems perfectly fine The whole 'Decorated by a 15 year old' is also stupid. Mind your own business, not everything has to be beige and boring. If he wants to put up a funny poster, or paint the room purple, or collect anime figurines or something then that's perfectly fine to do. The joys of having a room of your own is the ability to express yourself artistically. The rest of the points are grand though

I had a guy that I dated for 3 years in my early 20s. I was particular about how the house should look. I cleaned the kitchen before I went to court for my tickets (this is important for later) I like a clean house. All of our friends knew the routine as well they had their own chore when they come over and I cook. (7 to 10 people on fridays) I went to jail for 2 weeks for not paying tickets. His friends picked me up from jail to take me home. I get home and the place is an f-ing pig stye. There were yugioh cards everywhere, dining room table was covered with clothes trash and pizza boxes. The living room looked like a tornado came thru it… but what made me more upset that the kitchen that I cleaned before I was arrested has not been touched since. There was just dust. This meant that he just ordered out. That was the first time my temper got the best of me and I just let him have it… “if this place is not cleaned up by the time I wake up from my nap, you can forget about cookie, nookie, no nothing.” My bro was there when it happened. He saw my face…found his keys, cigarettes and phone and walked out the door tell my ex “I told you so, good luck” I find out years later that my bro put out an APB to all my friend of what happened and they came over to help. Woke up to a clean house, cooked dinner, and a running bubble bath with a pack of Smirnoff green apple bite.

You accidentally get pregnant with his child and when you split up he barely ever pays child support and maybe sees your child once per month. He also bails at the last minute for planned visits with your so often, to the point that you don’t even tell the child when he’s going for a visit. Thankfully my husband is a great father to my son and treats him the same as the 2 kids we have together to the point that you would never know he’s not my oldest’s dad. This was really disappointing for me to experience with my son because my dad was the complete opposite, he never just randomly missed visits and the few times he did miss visits with me it was something I knew was coming, like when him and my step mom went to Australia for their honeymoon and when they went to Mexico with their friends.

I dated a man child in 2017. Grown man who didn't know when to change his cat litter. Didn't know how to drive and spent hundreds of dollars on dvds instead of paying his rent. Never changed his bedsheets and had to be told to brush his teeth before going out to events. We were 21. He also used to whine and borderline cry whenever we fought about finances and being a good homeowner. I left when i realised i was becoming his mother. Now I'm with someone that i can trust to literally function like an adult. The bare minimum ❤

I'm sorry but some of these are so hilariously double standards, while others are a bit like wtf. Also, what's so wrong about a place decorated by a 15 year old or having conversations about video games, tv & movies? I've been in a lot of homes where everything is so "mature" where you're afraid to touch anything, or god forbid accidentally move something a cm out of place. I personally love video games, tv & movies. Talking about them is no different than talking about books, or the like.

Some people can't separate "childish interests" from "immaturity." My wife and I both enjoy "childish interests" like dolls, stuffed animals, videogames, and toys. I'm into geeky things, but as a woman of 32 if I'm dating a guy and his place looks like it was decorated by a 15 year old then I'm absolutely raising an eyebrow. You can be young at heart without making your living room look like it's trying to be a gaming KZreadr's backdrop, and trust me there aren't many women in their late 20's and up who want to be lying in a bed surrounded by posters, black kallax units full of games and a load of other nerd tat. Display of your interests can be legit, but when the poster says "15 year old" they're purposefully conjuring up images of unframed posters on the wall and a permanent D&D or 40K setup in the lounge...

I know hardcore sports fans where to look at their house you wouldn't think they were as there's no team paraphernalia sitting around. Same with audiophiles. Yeah there'll be a nice Hi Fi usually but the wall of CD's and vinyl isn't dominating the lounge. I'm a nerdy woman for sure, but no woman, nerdy or otherwise, would want to cohabit in a space where there's stacks of miniature models, RGB lighting, strip lighting, a big sunken board gaming table as a permanent feature and massive kallax units of games in the literal living room.

Women are children because they mature faster than boys, but boys are able to mature past the age of teenagers while women stop mature past that age. Case and point, they throw temper tantrums when they are criticized / you white knights feel the need to defend them like they are children. None of the points were wrong in the slightest, you people just hate it because it goes against the "Men Bad" propaganda.

There is none because women are perfect and their only flaw is they are too nice. We can't call them children, bossy, mean, or anything because it is hurtful. Yet they can judge everything with their obvious god complex about how they are sent from the heavens. Unless they want to manipulate people into believing they are none of those thing and all of those things at the same thing.

I feel like this entire thread was just another green light for women to complain lol As if they’re gonna pick ANYONE without a fuckton of red flags 🤣 They just like the ones they find attractive lol I’m a mixed bag of both sides of the pole. I have some of the ones they like and some of the ones they hate. But my life in general doesn’t revolve around what women want. I have my own thing going on. You can take it or leave it (aka leave lol) I wont care.

I’m trying to figure out the whole red pilled part out. I’m guessing it was a conservative jab and if it was I thought it was funny because last time I checked man child doesn’t have anything to do with politics. Also if it is about conservative men upset about not finding a woman it’s because they’re in the wrong area. Not much of a man child thing more like trying to find love in the wrong places.

Story 2 sounds like I'd like to hear it from the other guy's end. Girl wants to do a self care day on Christmas. Like that's one of the biggest big family event days of the year if not the biggest, you can schedule your self care day on another day. If I wanted my girl to spend Christmas day with my family and she basically told me screw you Ima wear a face mask that day... Yea bro is better off without her, clearly massively different value systems.

@@Drums_of_Liberation It's a massive event. You show up, burnt out or not. You'd get fired from any job with that attitude and I'd like to think a relationship is a bigger commitment. Like I said, clearly different value systems. She should be with someone with similar values, but then must also be ready for if the partner decides he's gonna play video games instead of going to any event that's important to her. Self care right?
