The phototimer gave it to England, but then England was disqualified for a lane infringement by the lead runner as she came into the exchange zone. She just went right into the inside lane before she passed the baton. Great run by Kyra Constantine of Canada, a brilliant and very mature, respectful athlete who deserves her success.

The result of England getting the gold would have been correct based on the phototimer. It was not overturned because they decided that Canada finished first. England ended up getting disqualified because their lead runner went out of her lane just before passing the baton.

Beat 4x4 finish ever. Too bad for Britain but thanks for all you amazing ladies for all the excitement. Beats watching the Americans run away by meters.

The outgoing runner (Williams) did not stay in the outside half of the lane. Ohorugu stepped into the inside lane to avoid running over her. One could make the argument no advantage was gained by going out of the lane and she did not impede the runner in lane #2. This is usually called on runners going around a curve, but is often not called on a straightaway.

The punch is easier to execute for a tiring runner because the torso just twists rather than leaning the entire upper body bearing in mind the head is quite heavy and difficult to control.

England knows they came in 2nd place. That's why they reacted the way they did

Watch the first exchange. The incoming runner goes all the way into the inside lane at the start of the exchange zone before she passes the baton.

They were bumping arms before that as seen in the head-on shot. 8:07 to 8:18 In the final frame, Knight extends her arm and the Canadian runner is well out of the way. The outside runner should move out to avoid contact. For the most part, the inside runner controls the positioning.

@@binkyxz3 LOL, baloney ! Knight is drifting into lane 2 from lane 1 on purpose, coming into contact with Constantine. Interrupting her forward momentum, glad the English team was DQ'd. Even though the DQ had nothing to do with the stretch run.

@@mickdenis6630 The runner that is ahead is allowed to drift slightly. It is the passing runner's responsibility to make sure they have clear running room. Extending one arm straight out is tactic to trigger the timer similar to leaning. LOL indeed !

You mean, all teams would run the whole relay in the lane that they start??? like they do the 4x100m?? Inner lanes would run shorter distance than outer ones.

England rob Canada, the Canadian athlete head was across the Line. Yet they are upset that some athletes decided not to come. Because of their behavior.
