That wasn't actually actual Valencia, that was just Rebecca's imagination's version of Valencia. Rebecca's imagination comes up with these songs to make sense of the world. This was confirmed in a later season.

@@redrick8900I mean, she was a little bitchy with him, but if you’re with a guy for 10+ years and he neither takes a step to further the relationship nor has the guts to end it, of course you’ll get bitter and start pushing. Josh was already being a bad boyfriend to her by neither committing to marriage nor breaking things off. Not to mention he did start letting Rebecca in and flirting/leading her on. (Or at least not turning her down harshly enough - with the early stuff it’s not always clear how much is in Rebecca’s head versus real.) Valencia wasn’t nice to him, sure, but he wasn’t being a model boyfriend.

There is a very good anecdote about this song, Gabrielle Ruiz when she was making this song, she was afraid to tell Adam Schlesinger that she did not know how to play the guitar and when she told him he replied not to worry that she is in Hollywood she could lip-sync and There would be no problem, she was eternally grateful to him for that gesture alone, she considered him a very good friend and producer :”)

i love how each character evolved by the end of the show.

So funny how each woman first smiles at Valencia, then the smile disappears after they just got roasted.
