It’s strange how peoples phobias are almost contagious for me, when people start to act distressed because a certain thing or item I start to feel sick when I look at it even though I’m not scared of it…rly weird.

Same I have thalassophobia (but luckily I now live in the mountains as my father got transferred often) and when I see something like inside the ocean even in screens I got so scared sometimes I'll just cry not knowing what to do because it usually remain in my mind for atleast 1-2 hours ( and my sisters who don't have any phobia don't understand it and would only watch something about the sea in the TV when I'm home if I hang out with my friends she'll just watch cooking and staff.. )

I have the same phobia and lemme tell you it's awful. 😫 I also have Scoleciphobia- is also known by other names like Vermiphobia and Helminthophobia. They all mean the persistent and irrational fear of worms. The word Scoleciphobia originates from Greek Scoleci meaning parasitic worms and phobos meaning deep dread or aversion. Slugs and worms just aren't my thing. I stepped on a slug and i screamed, cried and immediately threw the shoe across the garden and it was left outside for a few days and i once saw a worm and started crying. My sister had to move it! 😫😫 I will not go in the garden if i know there is a worm or a slug about.

I suppose I’m afraid of fruit too…I don’t eat fruit because I don’t like the texture, and when someone gets it close to me I’ll scream and run away. Obviously, I pull myself together when I’m in public, but my family gives me a hard time in public by telling people that I don’t like fruit, and then I get mocked for it. I couldn’t tell you why I don’t like it, but I just don’t. For me, oranges are the worst

This is how you actually get past a phobia! CBT really does work. Maury doesn’t understand exposure therapy, and he probably wouldn’t even consider explaining it to his audience. This is amazingly positive.

hi, i have fructophobia and have since i was very little. its absolutely real and impacts every aspect of my life. it has prevented me from making friends, going out in public, and even eating food at times. im affected by my phobia every day. fructophobia is a specific phobia, which is a type of anxiety disorder. it usually comes from trauma related to that. for example, getting severe food poisoning as a child would trigger a type of food phobia. usually the worse the trauma the worse the phobia. its very rare and can bee seen as stupid and insignificant, but it changes they way you look at everything. some days its extremely bad and i cannot eat regular food without wanting to pass out or vomit. i get nightmares of it too. this has all caused other traumatic events to happen and make it worse. so, to summarise, yes its very real (its a subgroup of cibophobia which is the fear of food) but extremely rare. this means that its usually looked down on and ridiculed so many medical professionals dont know how to properly deal with it. 😊❤

I have fructophobia. It's associated with ptsd from living in an abusive household and poor hygiene conditions (being forced to eat, pieces of rotting fruit being left around> I associate fruits with violence and dirtiness). You don't know people's stories. It may seem stupid to you, but the irrational fears have a root in something real.
