Having a parent who owned his own business, a grocery store, I started working there once a week on delivery day. As a kindergartener, my job was both easy and hard, stopping the cases of food before they got to the end of the rollers. Of course, this was in the 1960's, when child labor laws weren't as restrictive as they are today. As we got older, we had more and different jobs to do, but it was fun.

I wish my mom and her family owned a restaurant. She told me that she and her siblings used to cook a lot with their mother and grandmother when they were young. I never met my grandmother, but I grew up tasting my mom and aunts’ amazing cooking. It’s basically in our blood. My favorite cooking is baking, and I’d love to open a bakery or a family restaurant someday.

Sir. You aren’t seeing that scene from the big picture. Chopping carrots alone isn’t exhausting. I agree. However, in a restaurant, that isn’t the only thing to do. It includes cooking the food within split seconds. It includes cleaning up tables after one party of customers quickly before the next party comes in to occupy the table. Let us not forget having to prep the ingredients so that whenever food is ordered, the ingredients are ready and can be cooked with the least possible delays. Trust me. It really is exhausting.

Me too. Thanks to my jobs, I changed. I got faster in my cooking and gained confidence in talking to people. I was so hopeless, but thanks to my hard work, I was a new person.
