Yes, every time I see a Toucan I think of the battle with Rocko on Bird Tricks. Despite a low iron diet he developed hemochromatosis and it was heartbreaking but he died - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Yqdm1Jqhh9vVdqg.html . Something to watch out for if you have a Toucan.

It sure saddens me to see people remove them out of their own environment. Then they need to be cared for like pets that they aren’t. I’m very grateful that she stepped up to help protect that beautiful bird. It’s a bond that worked out so well.

I would argue that if someone wants an exotic pet of any kind, talk to people who do captive breeding rather than just buying in local areas. Obviously they'd pay more, but the animal in question will be much healthier than one caught from the wild, and far more accepting of humans as they'd see us as part of the flock

Thank you for this video. So sad that this toucan was ripped from his natural environment and thrown into the illegal pet trade. He was treated terribly until this kind soul found him. Thanks so much for this story!

It's a heartwarming story on the face of it, but consider that the illegal pet trade only exists because customers like the woman in this video are willing to buy the poor animals. She is supporting the industry and is encouraging others to do so by inspiring others to rescue animals from similar situations. Sadly, sometimes having a heart can do more harm than good :(

@@dunkulusjones4564 Like I've said in previous posts, what's needed is for more people to support breeders who breed these beautiful birds for the legal pet trade. Sure, they may be more expensive, but the birds will be much healthier seeing as they'll have access to vet care.

You can see the difference from his arrival to how happy, healthy and colourful he is now. Excellent job bravo 👏

Thank goodness this pretty bird was saved, it so horrible that people just pull birds out their environment and just mistreat them. She really did save him from that and gave him a better life. We need people like her.
