Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Neuty is a rescue Nutria who sticks to this man like glue. Saved as a tiny baby he was raised by Myra and Denny who make sure he has all he needs. Neuty can’t help but choose his "dad" over everyone and has to go everywhere with him in his truck.

Note for fellow animal lovers🗒 The rest of Neuty's siblings were transferred to a rescue and are doing well today! But since Neuty needed extra help due to health problems, he had to stay with Myra and Denny. Nutrias are not pets and nature is the best environment for them🐾

If this is in N. America, nutria are an invasive species from S. America. The wild isn’t actually the best place for them if they are invasive, they can displace native wildlife 😕

There's a strip mall there and a resturant that created a little landscaped pond and it's full of wild geese, ducks etc... and a big old FAT Netrina that everybody throws left overs to....

OMG I love this video so much! When I was young my dad brought home a baby nutria. I keep him as a pet and he was the most loyal animal I've ever had! He followed me everywhere! One day my dad talked me into letting him go back into the wild. I didn't want to but I did. I took him to a nice area that had a pond and a creek and he would be safe. He loved the pond and I sat and watched him swim for a while and said good by went back home. Three days later "Peety" my pet nutria had found his own way back home! I never let anyone even try to talk me into letting him go free again.

@@nana8nanashi A virus isn't an organism, it doesn't even have cells, not even a single cell. Why are you trying to tear down such a well meaning comment? Of course you can try to find things that some people might think of as an exception, but In principle, YES, ALL creatures deserve respect and have the right to life. Some creatures may do things that we don't like, but WE do a million and one things that I'm sure many other species on this planet don't like!! We're the biggest pest, parasite, habitat destroyer, murderer, destroyer of entire species etc. If you're going to try to argue that a mosquito, say, doesn't deserve to be treated with respect or affection because it transmits malaria... then you could also argue that humans don't deserve to be treated with respect or affection for all the reasons I just listed. But we still do deserve respect and affection. That's the point. All creatures do.

@@wendybutler1681 This short video does not give the entire story. My experience has been that when a wild animal reaches maturity, they naturally want to go off into the wild. I have raised many wild animals and transitioned them all into the wild except for one. How old is this nutria, how long have they raised it, what are their plans? Since we don’t know, I’ll refrain from criticizing. He’s living a better life than road kill. I don’t know much, but I do know that babies need to be loved.

Speaking of an “unnatural life,” my cats live a bizarre and unnatural life. They are like whole house hamsters who never go outside, walk on grass or chase leaves in the breeze. This is a choice I made for them because if they are indoor/outdoor pets, they will 100% be killed by coyotes, hawks, cars or dogs. This is not an opinion, this is a fact. My cats are not apex predators, so by the rules of nature maybe I should let them be apart of the food chain? Except, I choose no.

I live in Finland and I saw one at mom’s cabin. I was sitting at our pier at dusk, heard noises from behind me, long grass rustling, turned my head (expecting to see neighbors dog or something) and there it was! We looked at each other for good two seconds, both equally shocked, Im sure, and this enormous rat just vanished in the water, making as much noise as a small child jumping in. I ran back to the cabin, somewhat frantically trying to convey what just happened, “I know this sounds utterly bonkers, but I just saw gigantic rat”. My always chill stepdad just laughed and told us about nutrias. Mom had heard very similar water splashes from the lakeshore for couple of weeks, we think they had a nest somewhere near. Nutrias used to be trapped for their fur, I believe my great grandma had a nutria coat in the 50s-60s.

Gosh...the last time I heard anything about Nutria was a while ago. Some program on TV that stated they were problematic in Louisiana, and that that there was an effort to hunt them regularly to keep the population down. Never thought about Nutria since then, but it's nice to see something positive, and even nicer seeing folks come to the rescue of some orphaned Nutria. I know some animal's can be invasive, or pests, but I don't like the way they can be heartlessly disposed of either. I'm glad Neuty got a nice home to spend the rest of his life in!

Having been born and raised on the Mississippi and lived on Galveston Island for twenty years I'm quite familiar with both beaver and nutria. Both build dams but the purpose of each is different. Beaver dams are meant to establish and maintain a stable water level. Nutria dams direct the flow of water to where they want to go. A nutria's bulkheads and diverter channels aren't the same as beaver dams but make no mistake...both are dams.

Beavers build the dams, but they also build lodges. And here is a cool thing.......if the lodge is big enough, beavers will allow both Nutrias and Muskrats to share the space in winter. All three species are very smart. Beavers know the value of that having some wiley, alert and big-toothed cousins being around cuts down on predators getting nosey! Likewise, Nutria and Muskrats appreciate the warm home and the protection afforded by Beavers who are four or five times their size. The only thing Beavers will not tolerate is sharing a bed......hence why they build extra "rooms". And the Nutrias and Muskrats must vacate the lodge in the Spring because beavers will not tolerate anything near their precious new-born Kits.

He's adorable!🥰Clearly in the rodent family. I've had rats as pets and a chinchilla too. They need to have their teeth trimmed from time to time. Great pets all in all. I've never heard of a Nutria before. Love those little webbed feet.

😊 You have a great eye! Nutrias are indeed part of the rodent family, and those webbed feet add an extra touch of charm. It's fantastic that you've had experiences with other rodent pets like rats and a chinchilla. They all bring unique joys to our lives.

Interesting little fellow ... I had never heard of his kind before. He looks a bit like a mix of an otter and a beaver, with the personality of a capybara. For those who are wondering about the sentence with needing sticks for his teeth ... most rodents' teeth grow continously (and at a surprising rate), so they need to regularly grind them down, or they will become unmanageable and actually keep them from being able to eat. Very nice video, I like the ones featuring animals which are not typically pets, there's always something to learn.

🤩 Your keen observations are spot on! Neuty's unique blend of features does make him a fascinating mix. And you nailed it about the teeth - regular grinding is essential for many rodents. I'm delighted you enjoyed the video and appreciate the spotlight on non-traditional pets. There's always more to discover in the animal kingdom! 🌍🐾

The bond that sometimes animals give to humans is one of life's miracles. They can always share some of their time with us while they remain in the wild. We can bond with animals without them being pets.

I think this is the species that used to be bred for their fur, even in England. They escaped, and became a pest in a beautiful area called the Norfolk Broads in eastern England. We more usually call them Coypu.

There is a pinned note saying that they went to a shelter, but this one was too injured. Separately, Nutria are an invasive, introduced species and that's why they're hunted.
