When Caitlin got a tortoise named Tiptoe, she had no idea how big he would become. He is 175 pounds and still growing. Caitlin loves spoiling Tiptoe with his personal backyard spa. He loves showing affection and lights up when he sees food. And Caitlin knows he’s going to be around for many more years to come.

@@AR-yv3djGoogle Turtoise. There are several entries with that spelling, just as there's several for the spelling Tortoise. Same critters, but with minor spelling differences. And sometimes the exact same type of animal can have many different names, one of the best examples of this is the animal that is called the Cougar in my part of Canada. Other names for these beautiful creatures are Mountain Lion, Panther, Puma, Ghost Cat, and about 35 more names throughout the world. And with words in general, even within the English language itself, spellings can and do vary. For example in Canada we spell this word behaviOUr, and Americans spell it behavior, we spell it centRE, and Americans spell it centER. Canadians usually spell words with an "OU", whereas American English uses only the "O". Some examples are, humour, colour, favourite, armour etc. Just within the English language itself spellings can and do change, people from different state or provinces can end up calling the exact type of cookies multitude of different things. Where I'm from (My hometown is the Capital city of British Columbia, Canada) we use the term Apartment Building, where I live now, on the Great Canadian Prairies, in Manitoba's capital city the term used is Apartment Block. Language must flow, and it must change and invite new words and spellings into the mix. Without change, language dies.

Definitely a lucky guy... BUT PLEASE... EVERYONE: Don't run out and get one of these magnificent creatures as a pet until you really-really-really-really think about it. This young lady & her supportive family are exceptional and obviously have a great set up for TipToe, but only because they have made the a huge commitment.

He is cute, but I am going to stick with my two basset hounds. They are enough pets for me. I have had 6 of them. For me, they are the perfect pet.

Tortoises can be a lifelong commitment. If you'r thinking about getting one keep that in mind. Also make sure you have access to a veterinarian who understands tortoises. Also, do your research! Make sure you understand habitat and dietary needs.

Aren't reptile pets also capable of spreading salmonella? So, just another thing to remember if considering getting a tortoise--even a small one! You'll be washing your hands a lot!

@@mcmewsen Retiles digest their food with bacteria, not acids like warm blooded animals. That's why there's bacteria, salmonella being part. Land animals like tortoises aren't as bad as aquatic or semi aquatic turtles. That just means you need to wash your hands after you handle them. Actually, you should wash your hands after handling any animal.
He needs to be the "ring boy" when his favorite girl gets married. 😊

That would be so cute. My cousin's Miniature Schnauzer was the ring boy for her wedding.
What amazing parents. Accidentally bought into a tortoise for their child who gets to be absolutely massive, said “bet” and renovated their yard for said tortoise??? That’s above and beyond the standards usually set.

Sulcatas are overwhelming rescues right now. There are far more of them than there are people who can care for them. Tiptoe and sulcatas in general would be better off without Tiptoe ever reproducing.

I've seen other videos about Tiptoe and I just find his relationship with his humans fascinating. It is utterly cool that they have the means to make him such a happy tortoise.
He is just gorgeous. Watching this Big Guy as a pet has given us an insight into his intelligence and lovability. It might be all about food, but we all know that he is a complex being. We share this Earth with these wonderful animals. 🙏🐢🐢🐢🇦🇺♥️

The animal probably spends 20 hours a day in this container. The animal is only allowed outside when they are filming for yt. yes, great relationship.

He is the luckiest tortoise in written history too! His mistress has taken such good care of him thru the years, I couldn't find one scar, scratch, plate out of place, turned or warped toe nail... a perfect specimen from loving care! He can be an ambassador for his species long after his adoptive human family have passed on. Very very proud of this human family... Good form, all pet owners could take a lesson from. This is my number one favorite KZread animal story!
