The amount of times Mercedes has been whining since the rule changes has increased dramatically. I remember the time when Merc were dominating they were blaming other teams for being bad. Crazy times.

Toto historically has shown that he knows when it's the right time to make an investment. He clearly doesn't know how to turn around a team

The fact that Toto's only experience is as a board member for WILLIAMS just makes him more of a clown than ever. No team leader/principal should own 1/3 of the entire bloody team in the first place, let alone Liberty Media's premium shoe shiner!

I think the cost cap really did it more than Toto. The amount of engineering brain drain after they couldn't just hire and pay people has really shown. It's equalized the engineering staffs at some of the top teams. If money were no object, Merc would have 4 different cars built by now with differing concepts. Toto said as much in 2022. They would have just built a new car instead of trying to keep making the zeropod work, but they couldn't because of the cost cap. Red Bull has the Newey cheat code, so they've so far been semi-immune from it but we see people leaving teams all the time now because they can't really be overpaid to stay at the top teams anymore.

It can be coincidence or not, but after Niki pass away the team start is downfall

wolff is stupid he doesnt need a driver he needs an engineer who knows what he is doing, not a very good boss of the team now that things are not going well after braun set him up for success! i think i could do wolfs job better than him i have zero experience at f1 haha

I totally agree with you. I've bee saying for years thar Toto is a boss, Mercedes needs a leader. We can see that for instance when Hamilton got 2nd place in Mexico 2022, Mercedes best place all year, and Toto didn't let the team celebrate because "we don't celebrate second" that was a stab in the heart of everyone in the team.

Toto is focused in destabilizing RedBull rather than improving Mercedes performance.

Toto needs to step back and take a position like Zak Brown and let someone with the technical knowledge be the team principal while he is still the face of the team.

He should hire Ross Braun to set the team up properly then fire Braun, climb into his skinsuit and then pretend the revival was Toto's doing.

Face it,no professional should blame the equipment.Did Mercedes not have testing time Did Mercedes not have wind tunnel time.Why is Russell outdriving Hamilton same car but is limited to what he can disclose?Hamilton is done and Ferrari apart from Le Clerc who Hamilton will drag him down with his negativity.Should have Carlos.

Give the devil his due. Hamilton takes direct blame for the BLM arrows and championing diversity quotas. Trying to win on merit while hiring on genitals and sun tans somehow isn't a winning formula. And not great for recruiting or retaining talent with the wrong genitals and sun tans. They won't recover as long as they're focused on being too 'pale, male & stale'.

Its hit home alright. He seems to be under some delusion that because they are Mercedes and have had success that why, OF COURSE theyre entitled to always be fighting for wins.

The blunt reality that there is no I in the word Team…. Toto, Lewis, whoever are only one part of the team - Mercedes team is the problem

TBH I been a fan of Merc since they joined F1. But Toto's quickly approaching his expiry date, he should just be CEO and assign a new Team Principle and let that new TP run the team. Zac brown did this. Then the team started doing much better.

I am not a merc fan but come on. they are really the 3/4 fastest car on the grid and its only been a 2 years since they almost got the top spot. they are a strong team and I am sure will be back winning again soon. how long has it been since the red car really won and they are still here still going for it. every team has ups and downs. reg changes and starting off on the right foot are normally to blame. they couldn't get their car to work but they did have the right idea. just look at todays redbull. it just took a certain induvial at the RB team to see what they had and make it work.

My question is; how long with Mercedes tolerate their name and brand image being linked to an under performing F1 team? More so as Aston Martin and McLaren are outperforming them using the same engine.

As I said before, the problem lies with Toto. Replace him and it will get better. I mean 2 1/2 years and no progress? Make the change!

Its the car that is the problem, and Lewis has won 7 Championships, should be 8, not 6 as one has said on here.

There's always political shenanigans whenever a team principal is involved, and Toto and Christian are two of the best (or worst, depending on your perspective). Whether Toto's up to the task of returning Mercedes to the front of the grid, I'm sure he's more aware than anyone what problems need to be solved. The team needs a better car, but they also need another driver. Toto may have a slightly unhelpful obsession with Max for whatever reason, but we see it in professional team sports all the time--winning veterans who are tempted to seek glory elsewhere. Toto would be a fool not to keep his eyes on Max and the ongoing situation at RBR. Call it cringe or not, he'd be doing his team a disservice by not doing what he can to possibly pull off a coup, even if it seems supremely unlikely. His most recent comments about there being numerous reasons for a driver to stay or go aren't wrong. It's easy to say that it's nonsense to leave a sure thing or a winning formula, but it happens.

Toto hiring Russell and losing Hamilton were huge mistakes. Focusing on getting Max is another, Max cannot save that car or the team from the place they are in. I like Toto but he has really screwed this up and basically screwing his partner in that success for someone who will never be a world champion or even win more than a handful of races in the process has hastened the downfall of Mercedes. In the words of Horner "fix your f*cking car"

The team isn't imploding, this is ridicules. 2022 they, and everyone else except RBR (because Adrian Newey has a wind tunnel shoved in his head) had issues. I'd straight up give them a pass there. 2023 they followed a dead-end because Russell won in Brazil and they thought they'd sorted the car. 2024 They've realized they're A: on a dead end and B: way behind and have to learn the lessons about the car/sim/correlation everyone *else* learned in 2022. The car's a finicky bastard that can be a rocketship when it's in it's window and a nightmare when it's not. Russel, who's used to driving literal sheds at Williams is fairing better, Lew, who's used to driving a car that's decent, isn't. He also *does not give a singular fuck* anymore and is tired of AMG shitting the bed. This whole thing looks a lot worse than it is, ignoring Hamilton's lack of effort, and focusing on Russel's, the teams in the upper-midfield, which is exactly where you'd expect them to be with an entirely new concept. The problem is Hamilton is performing with calculated mediocrity, while being used as a guinea pig, until he can go to The Scuderia.

TBH George is NOT a #1 driver, he has illusions of Grandeur. There are several that could step into the other car and make him #2 in less than 1/2 a season. Saintz for 1, Alonso for 2, and Even a driver like Liam Lawson would easily make George's Hope of being #1 short lived. I like George but he is just NOT that #1 Material. I think to be #1 you have to have SKILL, Aggression and Most of all the DESIRE to do what ever it takes to be the Champ, George is a lot like LeClerc, they could be the best but they don't have that Hunger. You see Saintz right now, using every tool in his Kit to show Ferrari they chose to back the wrong horse in Leclerc. I hope Lewis goes there and DOMINATES HIM SO BAD. I hope Leclerc loses his shit and starts making those mistakes and crying like he did in china, Imagine crying because saintz wouldn't let him by because he is #1. Saintz did the right thing, you want to get by you gotta earn it by passing me. Now to get back to the point of Merc. Toto has to step down as TP and become F1 Team CEO just like Zac Brown did a McLaren. Then bring in someone else to lead the team. I personally would try to get back James Vowels and say " here you run the team the way you want" then go 100% hands off and let James run the team. At Williams James left merc to make a point that he could take one of the worst teams and bring them back. With Albon he is doing this, Sergeant should be gone and Antonelli should be in. At least until 2025 when he will move to Merc. Then either Keep Albon, or let him go as he wants to go back to RB. We know this. Boot Checo and let Albon back in, but send checo to RB with Yuki. Then Let Lawson walk to take a seat at Audi or at Williams. I see such a bright future for a lot of drivers in F1 except for Ocon and Gasly, I do like Gasly but both him and Ocon are cancer to a team. Ocon is an arrogant SOB and Gasly would do well in WEC but in F1 he just isn't good enough. Same with ocon. I would bring up some fresh meat for the other Williams seat like Felipe Draguvich, who at Aston is dying a slow death. Oli Bearman and possibly another driver from F2 for the other seat at Haas. Call me crazy but this is the best situation I can see. If Stroll is forced to vacate his seat, Then Fernando with Saintz or Lawson would be a good choice too. Sorry Kmag but your time in F1 is over if you don't get a seat with Andretti if they end up getting in. If not its back to Indy car for you bro.

Is Toto really the least experienced team principal? I mean, Laurent Meckies and Ayao Komatsu have exactly 5 races worth of experience as team principals. Mike Krack has just over 2 years. Andrea Stella has just over 1 year. In fact, if I'm looking at this right, only Horner has more years as a team principal than Toto?
