I wish some of these stations would blow the dust off these 1950s/1960s logo designs and renew them for today. They were 5 seconds of pure class.

Fun Fact: When I was 13 years old in 1978, I made my first ever television appearance on WNBC-TV in New York doing an editorial on violence in sports as part of their Your Opinion editorial series, where they would have the station's viewers come on for about a minute and talk about issues of the day affecting them.

Fact of interest: Channel 4's future callsign was an NBC station in New Britain, Connecticut, which was also WNBC. It stood only for the town, not the National Broadcasting Company.

Gotta love those 'landmark' logos (Central Park, the Harbor, Rockefeller Center, Coney Island, and the Empire State Building). Those were sophisticated animation. I'm astonished that NBC didn't do much the same for its owned-and-operated stations in Philadelphia, Washington, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

WNBC-30 originally stood for New Britian Connecticut until the network demanded the call sign for channel 4 in New York.

There was a nighttime syndicated version of "The Price Is Right" concurrent with the daytime CBS version, hosted by Dennis James in place of Bob Barker. I saw it in Dallas on future sister station KXAS.

Columbo always mentioned his wife, though she never made an appearance on his show. "Mrs. Columbo" was a spinoff starring the future Captain Janeway, Kate Mulgrew.
