At one time, legendary TV voice Phil Tonken was a staff announcer at WOR-TV in New York.

It is the NYC Market's 3rd & final Independent Station.Launched in the Fall of 1949.

New York Rangers games were the best back in the day.....And Wrestling at Midnight on Saturday nights after Benny Hill....
I remember New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley helpe them move the city of license to Secaucus, NJ so that New Jersey would have a VHF Commerical TV station, still was in the New York area suburbs.

Never watched a lot of shows on Channel 9. Growing up, lots of its programming was movies. And some were downright weird! I remember all the 9 Logos, probably from ads. You missed the one bumper/intro that everyone in and around NYC knew - Million Dollar Movies’ skyline with the Empire State Building. 😃😃😃😄😄
