It's too bad there aren't more of these WMEX airchecks.. They're priceless! I used to enjoy Dan Donovan, Mel Miller and Larry Justice. Let's get into a time capsule and travel back.........

I went to Northeastern in the 60's...I remember visiting WMEX and meeting, I believe it was Larry Justice..."Woo Woo"...and two other jox. It was really neat too because the day i was there I remember British pop star Petula Clark stopped in...met and talked with her..also met and talked with The Outsiders (Time Won't Let Me)...being in the right place at the right time....ty for posting this aircheck.....wonderful memories...jeff.

oh how I miss the golden age of AM radio. When I was a young I would stay up almost all night on the weekends, vacations, summer vacation just station surfing. At about 11pm and later you could pick up the distant stations. From the boston suburbs I could sometimes hear midwestern stations

what a great aircheck! you can tell this station wasn't just for 'kids' , with adult contest winners and extensive coverage of the Eichmann trial. I worked with Mr. Parker in NH a few years after this, he actually spells his first name with two N's (Donn). last I heard, he was living in Florida and still working... at a big band station.

This is good. I love the old airchecks! I have 1961 KYA radio airchecks with news and all. My favorite news is J. Armstrong doing the 3am news at WAYS Oct 1965. I have that posted. I also posted two WMEX radio spots.

He shouldn't have come out of the News after that bright jingle with a slow tune. Otherwise, great aircheck!

This was all news WITS when the mom went shopping for her husband leaving her kid at the performance by Lorettta Long (Susan) of Sesame Street fame at Midland Mall in 1978. Miss THOSE days.

It looks like the lead news story about Russian Yuri Gagarin's space flight featured some doubts as to how many times he circled the earth. He didn't orbit three times; he just made one orbit and landed upon the end of that first orbit.

why are the songs all faded out? Is this some kind of copyright issue?

It's called "scoping" (as in telescope) which is common in airchecks especially if they are being submitted to another station for a job. The Program Director already knows what the records sound like, he just wants to hear the jock.
