The U.S style, of this is not that diffrent between the european ones are. But instead of having just one hook, we have it on each side of the container at the end. Also, one other thing.. the locking for that dumpster on the truck, makes me feel.. strange, ive never seen so simple locking for a dumpster that can jump out if the load of the dumpster is heavy enough when being compressed. And yes, i am a former driver myself, so ive been doing that plenty of times. This size is normal in Europe :) We have the sizes 8 and 10 kubikkmeter of this type of containers. It was alot more of them around, before the undergroundbins came around. Now its a mix between 2-4 wheel bins, undergroundbins (with a crane) and those dumpsters really that is in the works. If the costumer has a hook-lift container though.. normaly a 35kbm or a 40kbm container :)

Definitely slower than a front load but I think there was wires or something so it’s got to be rear load
@Jorgen87

I did emty one of those, within 3-5min :) Depending of the load and how the waste-build is made. Some of them is automaticaly pressing the waste, some builds do you need too do it all manualy (as shown here..) and some other trucks, in europe, you can only press the botton ones and it keeps unloading the dumpster :)

your title is misleading. Those are normal size dumpsters, not giant. At the building where I live (in Copenhagen, Denmark) we've got a 25 cubic meter dumpster for all the stuff that's too big to go into the recycle bins - there is a size limit of the trash and it must be flammable as it goes to the incinerator. Between all the buildings here we have about 1000 units (apartments) that have to share the same trash system, so it used to have to be emptied one a month. A couple years ago we had to start splitting our trash into many more recycling groups, so the big dumpster isn't used as much and typically only has to be emptied a few times a year. The garbage truck that comes to empty it is a rather impressive 5 axle beast, but the ones we use to empty bins that way here are far safer than this American truck - we got hooks on each of the rear corners and the hydraulic lift on the truck to keep the dumpster locked in. Even when the bin is fully loaded and heavy the truck's able to move it like it weighs nothing

I dont know but I don’t think front loaders would be able to pick up such a large container. And probably having to get smaller containers to fit the front loader would cost the place that has the dumpster more.
