Hi thanks should I get a dental i plant as my molar was decayed beacuse of the horizontal wisdom tooth. I have no molar. I think its called second molar. I use to chew on that side. Are molar dental implants good?

Hi Zeenat. Sorry to hear about your tooth loss. Molar implants are great! Especially if you can’t chew on one side. Then you really should get implants, otherwise you will overstress your other teeth and damage them. Now, there might be anatomical restrictions for placing molar implants, such as the nerve or the sinus, which may need to be addressed beforehand, but yeah, I would say if you can get implants, do it!

Hi Zeenat. Based on your past history, it seems very likely that the upper wisdom also needs to be removed. I’m guessing you still have one more wisdom left, the right upper, which you might want to consider removing and just being done with them. Good luck!

Hey, I have 4 premolars revoed for braces, does this make it more likely my wisdom teeth will erupt properly?

Hi. Yes, removing 4 bicuspids definitely helps with wisdom teeth. It reduces the pain when your wisdom start to erupt. It also increases the chances of you being able to retain your wisdom teeth. Of course, if your jaw is too small you may still have to remove them. Ask your orthodontist or dentist what they think. You can also attach a picture of your X-ray (the one called a panoramic) and I’ll tell you what I think. Good luck with your braces!

Hi Nadine. Based on what you've told me, I think you can go either way, meaning that you can keep or remove your wisdom teeth. Why? First off, it's always the bottom wisdom teeth that cause major issues. If your bottom wisdoms are fine then you shouldn't have to remove all 4 of your wisdom teeth. Secondly, you're already 23 years old. Typically, wisdom teeth start becoming problematic and painful during your late teens, early twenties. If you're not experiencing pain, then removing these teeth is optional. Is it better to take them out? Probably. Of course there is some pain and costs involved with that. I would only seriously consider removing your wisdom teeth if (a) the upper wisdom tooth is in a position where you can't clean it (b) the upper wisdom tooth is infected (c) you have regular headaches which you attribute to the wisdom teeth. Obviously, I would have to see you X-rays to better evaluate your situation (feel free to amend your X-rays if you want). However, it doesn't sound to me like you really need your wisdoms removed and it's more optional to do so. Either way, good luck!

Hi. Great question! We inherited wisdom teeth from our ancestors. Don't believe me? Look at the chimpanzee. Guess how many teeth they have? That's right, 32 teeth, which includes the four wisdom teeth. Chimpanzees have 32 teeth and they also have a very large jaw. As a result, these teeth fit comfortably into their mouth without causing any issues. As humans evolved, their jaw became smaller and more refined. This meant that there was less and less room to fit 32 teeth. Some lucky folks, I guess the more evolved ones, have no wisdom teeth. Other folks, the wiser ones, have a full set of 32 teeth which includes the 4 wisdom teeth. I hope this answers your question. Do you have wisdom teeth? Have you removed them or are you planning to do so? Best of luck!
