Wisconsin Life | Pete's Hamburgers
The smell of cooking onions fills the air when Pete's Hamburger stand is open on summer weekends in downtown Prairie du Chien. For more than a hundred years, the Gokey family has operated the business started by Pete Gokey in 1909. They still make them the unique way that Pete did, using water on a grill that ensures the burgers turn out as moist, meaty morsels that customers love to gobble up.

My mom use to cook out burgers like this when we were little.
I love these old local businesses… they are what America is built on. Hard work, finding a need to get out of bed every morning and succeeding.
Looks really good! If I’m ever in Wisconsin, I’ll swing by
it's almost made in the same fashion as White Castle sliders

Love Wisconsin other than their stupid liberal politics
I was wondering why the burger tasted like it was cooked in a washing machine. Garbage quality
HEY ! There is NO such thing as a Hamburger ! They are just BURGERS There is NO Damn HAM in them and Never was! Just Ground BEEF ! The Hamburg Steak originated in Hamburg, Germany! It's a Thick Ground Beef Steak patty cooked and topped with a brown onion mushroom gravy. The Original American style Burger & Cheeseburger originated at a Truck Stop Cafe in Athens, Tx in 1898 by a man named Uncle Dave Fletcher who introduced it at the State Fair in St.Louis, Mo in 1904 ! And if the Bacon came from a Pig born, raised, butchered and processed in Canada, then one could call it Canadian Bacon, butt actually it's a type of Ham !
