Great overview. Coming from an electronics background, it all comes down to impedance matching. The source (amp) must match the load (speakers) if you don't want to damage/overload/underload your system.

I got 2 JL Audio 12w1v2-8 they're both 8 ohms each 300watts RMS old school Subwoofers. I bought them from a guy I used too know, they've been sitting in my closet collecting dust. This Winter I wanna have a custom ported box build for them, now I'm guessing after they both become 4 ohms wired in parallel, I would need an amp stable at 4 ohm.

what about the output, do they doubled up or divided? for example i got a pair of 200 watts 4 ohms speakers, so they become 8 ohms in series, but do they total as 400 watts? and what about in parallel?

i have 2 technics sb-a38 towers they are a 3 way, 4 driver tower. each tower has 1 tweeter 1 mid & two woofers. the woofers are 10 inches and 12 inches. the impedance & wattage are listed on a tag on the back right under the speaker wire connections. both say the same but they say 8ohms @130 watts. now i would like to run both towers to an amp. can someone instruct me on how to get the full effectiveness of each driver in each tower without any complications or distortion

So in the third example (series¶llel), it's ok to just connect the four speakers to one of the two +/- terminals (L&R; just using the R +&-) as opposed to the first example (parallel) where both the Left and Right positive and negatives are used?

Yes .... R should be between 4 and 8 (if its 4ohm add 4 ohms resistance inseries of equivalent wattage to match SPL & SENSITIVITY .... Make sure sensitivity remains same for both speakers )

as i know.. the amplifier are more watts than the speaker ... example . you have a 450 watts speaker it means you choose a amplifier higher than your speaker watts.. exmple 500 watts amplifier..

You're totally right! However Ohms are important to match because they are the the resistants who prevent high current (power) to the speakers, and prevent from blowing the speaker/s and overheating your amp with high voltage flowing. From my research thats my understanding and it makes sense. Lmk if you figured out, or learned another way, I would like to know!

Lower the resistance the better right? Means more power. So a total resistance of less than 4ohm will be ideal. Please correct me if im wrong thanks.

this is a bit confusing, we still need to add watts calculation of the amp and the watts of the speakers!

It started simple but quickly turned into a science class... My brain can't handle that much equation... Can I hook an 8 olm and a 6 olm speaker to one + - channel on a power amplifier?

In the combination, parallel/series wiring, are you wiring all 4 speakers into the left channel? I’m assuming then you could add 4 more speakers to the right channel with the same wiring? I know this is an old video, but maybe I’ll get a confirmation... thank you!
