This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Both lyrically and musically it's damn near close to perfect. Winter is one of those extremely rare songs that evokes so much emotion in the listeners.

I really love that song. It is very emotional and beautiful. It is about his father who passed away as Jari was making the album. I always feel like I wanna cry ´, everytime I listen to that song. Please check out "Death and the Healing" and "Eternal Darkness (Autumn), this is a very dark song^^, by Wintersun as well. And please react to Make Them Suffer - Old Souls and Threads.

Each time I listen this song i cry (yes I cried during the video). I also lost somebody from my family, and each words translate exactly my feelings about it. It was a beautiful reaction for a beautiful song from a beautiful woman. Thanks from France =)

wintersun is the only band that can make me feel so freaking good, and sad, at the same time. VERY powerfull stuff!!

I love this song... there's so much emotion and basicly longing in Jari's (Yari pronounced 😊, so good for you Tauri... you got it!) voice. He has said Forest Seasons album is most personal album and he is dealing with loss of his father. Previous song in the album is Eternal Darkness (Autumn) and his father died in the fall. That song is brutal, but at the same time really great. Whole album is really good... hope you could react to rest of the songs also. Be safe lassie! 😊

I must say, I like that. Nowaydays no one "remembers" to mention the debut album. It was a full of masterpiece written over it. Maybe not heavy as their newers stuf... but that's to be expect since if there's like 50 years, the drop maybe 5 max. I was waiting and waiting for new stuff to come along. Now there has been new stuff and I love it too. But for my taste, the debut was nothing more of spectacular in my opinion (not at all saying the the new stuff isn't - it Jari's geniousness). Great band all together, I just wish there would be... more. :)

This song to me is just full of feelings and they get transmitted to you somehow. When I first listened to it I was not depressed or anything but it just really gets you, just pure emotion. Anyway, Sadness and Hate is my second favorite so if you wanna keep on the same type of songs then thats the one.

I agree, see needs to listen to Heart like a Grave...or While We Sleep from Insomnium.

Sounds... cold. Brave girl. Wintersun plays advanced, even expeditionary metal, and it is definitely not for everyone. I think this was Jari's most exquisite vocal performance, and yes, there is great beauty to be found in some very cold, lonely and melancholic places, and I think that is something Finland does better than anyone. I'm in my mid 60's, and bands like Wintersun, Amorphis, Omnium Gatherum, Insomnium and others from those cold northern lands are helping me prepare for my final days upon this amazing world. Suggesting 'While We Sleep' by Insomnium, 'Be The Sky' by Omnium Gatherum and 'Amongst Stars' by Amorphis, featuring the remarkable Dane, Anneke van Giersbergen on guest vocals. Very well done, especially making the video full screen and you smaller, which takes humility. And bless you.

You're right, Loneliness isn't for everyone, and not for every mood. One has to have a quiet place and TIME listening this. Compared to other Wintersun songs it's simple, but it's beautiful and so much feeling for the passing of a loved one in Jari's voice. A good pick for a funeral song, I added it into my list. BTW I heard that Jari has already written material for several new albums. So new Wintesun stuff should be coming.

Nice reaction. This is really beautiful song and Jari made also an acoustic version of it. If liked this, I am sure you will like that version also. This album was concept album, Four Forest Seasons. So there is four songs: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. And two last are also connected his father. He was seriously ill . Autumn time. Visited hospital etc until passed away. That time was also hard for Jari, I guess a lot of stress. And you can hear it in that song! Then Winter song, his father is already gone and now Jari is missing him, like this line "There was so much I wanted to say". So sad song but same time so beautiful. BTW, in Summer song, there is a choir, which have 16 Finnish metal musician! Otherwise album is mainly made by Jari, like no drummer. Kai was already that moment busy with Nightwish, so he could not come. Instead Kai... Jari replaced him with a drumming machine! And we always have been made jokes that Kai is a machine, so - now his replacement was a machine!

I am pretty sure you would also like Ensiferum, especially as Jari was vocalist and part songwriter on their first 2 albums. Both of which are just amazing. Maybe try out something like Lai Lai Hei for clean vocals or Windrider for the kind of riffs that I think you'd love.

thanx tauri again. great emotial reaction this song and really this song also gets my eyes wet every time if i really want. just beautiful song and not cheesy way. if u have time you check poets of the wall,its finish band also. not metal but something other greatnes. you pick any song u want that band and i think you sell your soul again to the music gods :)

I love this song! I'm Bipolar. I feel like that very often, I wish I could just vanish in thin air. My family loves me and I have few but true friends. A stable job, decent payment, a car, a house. But there are moments no one and nothing matters, the pain and sadness is too much and I just want away from this world. I feel so worthless and a failure. The fact I tried out of here and survived shows I failed.

My request is a reaction to my all time favorite song (Loneliness is my second favorite), Wintersun - Eternal Darkness (Autumn). A strong contrast to Loneliness, it's fast, brutal, dark and epic.

Have you ever heard of Seraphim? Those guys have some amazing music in my opinion. Belial is my favorite song by them

such a sad but great song you can feel his pain. Winter is not a season I am familiar with as where I live winter is the pleasant time of year where the daytime temperature drops to low 30s celcius and the humidity goes away with the rain and we have beautiful dry sunny pleasant weather for a couple of months! Total opposite of winter almost... if you do some Make them Suffer I would love to see a react to Save Yourself their lyrics are simple but so strong and the ending is a little unexpected.

Finnish is one of those languages where R has very much trill. But no worries, almost all reaction channels are from English natively speakers (coz others aren't so comfortable speaking a lingua franca in public videos) so quite used to hearing the English pronounciation. In fact, when Finns moved to America, most of them changed into a Swedish or an English name, because Finnish names were too strange for Germanic languages speakers.

The thing that blows me away every time i hear this song is that Jari the lead has only one lung. That kind of pipes with only one lung is just amazing.

Do eternal darkness from the same album. Heavy, brutal track.

The song is excellent, but it is meant to be listened to as a whole. It is a saga. Only then do you get the whole meaning.
